Hot Take of the Day: Despite all the hints in both narrative and gameplay that LaDS was always designed for six LIs, the writers are not required to tell you that a 6th LI is coming. New characters are introduced, with no advanced notice whatsoever, all the time in literature. The more the reader gets to know the character, the more that character's role in the overarching narrative becomes apparent. "Show, don't tell". It's one of the most basic hallmarks of good storytelling. The writers do not need to hold your hand and spell things out for you. And yet LaDS devs still included a "Coming Soon" notice on the character selection screen! They did not have to do this. If you're unfamiliar with the genre, it's not uncommon for otome games to include "secret routes" that only unlock after the reader has gone down certain paths. Subtlety is an art. Try to appreciate that more. Having been introduced early on, Caleb's later inclusion as an LI was by far the most telegraphed. Sylus was leaked. Valko's introduction should not be compared to either of them. It's possible that the writers wanted to do something different with him. It's their work. They should be allowed to introduce him into the story as they intended. Just because you don't think that Valko was as narratively seeded, so to speak, as Sylus and Caleb were, does not mean that the writers did not carefully plant those seeds. His release accompanied a MS update in which I am sure we would have gotten to see some of those seeds start to bloom. #LADSis6 #BringValkoHome #valktober2026
