Most Japanese people watch daytime TV shows where the Japanese equivalent of James Corden goes to restaurants with the host and goes “ah! oishii!”
every country is filled with 99% normies so when people have this crazy belief that Japan is some pedophile sanctuary because raunchy anime gets produced there i have to remind people that most japanese people hate that shit and just watch live action tv and disney movies just like the rest of the world. ultra racist to believe anything otherwise

Yes, Sony has stopped making Blu-ray players, but also the underlying patents have mostly expired, bringing a flood of cheaper Chinese players. Who knows, maybe one of them will innovate. A portable player with built-in streaming to iPads? That’s the future I want to see.

"Zoomers care a lot about ownership. They know that if they don't have a piece of media physically, then a corporation could censor it or take it away. Video game and entertainment companies are killing discs when they're more popular than ever."
Some perspective: Physical Media peaked in 2004 at about $21 billion in the US. Ultra HD Blu-ray is a niche within a niche. It may be growing again, which is great, but it's not going to eclipse streaming. And this is the *content* market. What with the hardware?🧵 1/2

.@Panasonic needs to take the mantle of 4K UHD Blu-ray (and Blu-ray) like Pioneer's revision of LaserVision into LaserDisc. Absolute dominance and future innovation, even if catering to a niche. Supporters will respond.

This would be enlightening for the Western anime fans that are just learning about the lineage of certain tropes but this time Grok is translating Ninku as "Shin Kuu". Again, turn that feature off.

Just found out Y tu mama Tambien (2001) is no longer available on *any* streaming service in the U.S., & that Criterion had to stop producing Blu-Rays Easily one of the 5 most important films of the century This is why relying on streaming for preservation is a shit idea.

Nothing cooler than going to a media store on another continent and seeing your own product (put out by a local distributor with no modification)

Re-sharing this with some extra images here to remind everyone of how versatile yet refined Katsura-sensei's skills were. From cel illustrations , to watercolours, to designs. I've been in awe of his work for thirty years. Rest in peace, and thank you for all the inspiration.
Don't let the shills and scaremongers win: physical is and always will be better. Laser rot does exist but so does old age and illness, and yet we still live ambitious lives with all of our human limitations. People put love into the design of this stuff. If you own it, own it!

I'll be blunt and say that networking abilities are necessary in an industry like this. It obviously depends on the type of stuff that you want to be working on, but you need to be able to forge decent connections and have some level of affabi... Continue→marshmallow-qa.com/messages/…

Manga in Japan is cheaper since it’s produced there, yes, but the sad fact is that globally print is becoming expensive. There are less paper volumes being produced in Japan period. It is completely normal for series to suddenly switch digital only releases after the first vol.
Aren’t manga volumes only like €2 in Japan why is the west like this
