This is why I still feel reasonably good about Rangers winning the league. 2 of the remaining 3 Old Firm games are at home. Let's say you net 3 points in those. Then you just need to net 2 (maybe 1 if GD improves) points over the remaining 24 matches with an easier schedule.

Hearts under Bloom/Jamestown might be positioned to be sort of a dollar store Atlético Madrid in Scotland where they could threaten Old Firm hegemony occasionally. Financial gap between them and the Old Firm is greater than Atlético Madrid and Real/Barcelona though.

If you're a G6/FCS/non-football school with reasonably warm weather, you should be sinking at least some money into baseball. Football and basketball (maybe with guardrails some parity will return) are cooked in terms of national aspirations for schools like ours.

Football best case you lose by 50,000 in the playoff and have your coach/players all taken. Basketball was fun for years but the portal created 40 superteams which eliminates upsets. Baseball (for now at least) you can have hope that you can make a deep run as a small school.

Now we do need to assure football can win 6-8 games a year most years because it drives realignment and revenue. But the ceiling there is really low outside of maybe like Boise and a couple others.

The cynical USM fan part of me feels like we're about a decade late on this and the SEC is just going to pull the rip cord out from college baseball like they've done in football and basketball before we ever play a game at new PTP. The renderings are incredible though.

And at least they're attempting to capitalize on success. A big part of why football fell off is we sat on our ass in the 2000s while all our peers were investing and building up their facilities.

I mean, our athletic department signals to the fans that only baseball matters by the way they operate (despite being unable to release renderings of a stadium that have been sitting in a public document for months). So it makes sense people would think this.

I kinda hate Winsipedia Brain because we're a different program after 2012-14 (though we're 5-1 against them since that) but that's 43 of the last 49 against ULL with a tie in there. Bedlam-style domination.

I feel Gulfport-Biloxi airport is somehow one of the most unique and memorable pieces of architecture in South Mississippi. Like an unusual number of people in the lower 6 counties would be able to identify an outline of it compared to other regional airports and their locals.
