It's been an historically remarkable weekend as British Columbia elects its first conservative government since 2013.

Only 48% of BC voters supported the BC Conservatives, yet the voting system has handed Lorne Doerkson's Conservatives 69% of the seats and 100% of the power.

People keep picking apart the COPE & Greens platform for Vancouver, and everything they flag just sounds like good, overdue policy. A lot of it the city could do with powers it already has.

Low voter turnout = Ken Sim and ABC destroy the city
High voter turnout = Sean Orr and COPE make the city fun and cool

Some high school students came door knocking today. When I saw the materials they were carrying, I said, “I see you’re door knocking for ABC today.”
“Yes,” said Boy 1. “We’re here with Lenny Zhou.”
“He’s here?” I said.
Boy 3 said, “Yes, do you want me to get him for you?”

I'm going to keep pointing things out about this one because it has layers. Under this ABC government, homelessness increased by 15%. 42% of respondents during ABC's tenure said an eviction in Vancouver caused their homelessness: council.vancouver.ca/2026041…

A whole campaign built around the slogan “Evict Ken Sim” to viciously malign him.
“Scapegoating the poor and homeless. You know, that was us.”
When Ken holds an “Evict Ken Sim” button, it hits hard. His family faced real evictions and financial instability over and over again, growing up as immigrants with little to their name.
And the family who lived through those struggles with him didn’t sign up for these personal attacks.
Ken got into politics so his kids, and other kids growing up in Vancouver, have a chance to build a future here.
That’s why safety and affordability are at the heart of ABC Vancouver’s campaign.
The full change we all wanted hasn’t happened yet. There is still more work to do.
The Public Safety Plebiscite is the next step on safety: stronger City laws against open-air hard drug use and a call for secure medical treatment, including voluntary and 100+ involuntary care beds.
On affordability, it means a 0% property tax increase, help for families and a thriving economy where people can earn enough to get by and build a future here.
Real change takes leadership that can face difficult battles and even brutal personal attacks that hit closer to home than you would ever want and keep going.
Because Vancouver is worth it.

Canadian PM Mark Carney sees the fight with Trump as his opportunity to do a shock doctrine for Canada, selling it off to private equity with moves that would otherwise be unpopular.
