This will always be funny 🤣
For those who have lost belly fat through walking, how many steps were you taking daily, and for how long did you maintain the routine before you started seeing results?

Late stage capitalism: A supermarket throws perfectly good food in the dumpster, pays its workers so little they can barely afford groceries, then asks customers to donate to the food bank at checkout. And we're supposed to admire how fucking efficient this system is.

Sri Lanka’s pro-Palestine protesters are very quiet. Their government is spending Rs 4.26bn on Israeli drones, after IAI upgraded the Kfir jets that bombed Tamils. No marches. No protests against genocide. Is the outrage about the weapons, or just who they’re pointed at?
🚨 Sri Lanka to spend Rs 4.26 billion on Israeli military drones as defence ties deepen Sri Lanka’s parliament has approved Rs 4.26 billion for four drones from Israeli manufacturer BlueBird Aero Systems, part-owned by Israel Aerospace Industries, under a government-to-government deal due to be signed in December. The purchase follows an IAI upgrade of the air force’s Kfir jets, which were used in bombing raids that killed thousands of Tamils across the North-East.

Some dude in California running a 3-person company got voters to give him $4.2 billion by authoring a ballot measure, which passed
Something feels a bit iffy about California prop 38. Doing a popular vote proposed by a 3 person non-profit that gives said non profit $4.2B from the public! I hope Gary is great and knows how to spend $4.2B well because it’s done.

Google is getting way too comfortable thinking it can dictate how schools operate just because they refuse to adopt its AI products. Maybe it’s time we remind Google that it doesn’t own the internet. Schools and citizens should start exploring alternatives like Firefox. We need to stop giving one company this much control.

🚨🇺🇸 DISTURBING COURT FOOTAGE: MOTHER BREAKS DOWN WATCHING VIDEO OF HER SON BEING FORCED TO RUN ON A TREADMILL. Christopher Gregor is accused of killing his six-year-old son, Corey Micciolo, in New Jersey. Court footage showed Corey repeatedly falling while his father allegedly forced him to run on a treadmill at an excessive speed because Gregor believed the child was overweight. The footage also appeared to show Gregor biting the boy on the head. Shortly afterward, Corey was taken for medical treatment after reportedly stumbling and slurring his speech. He suffered a seizure during a CT scan and later died. The medical examiner attributed his death to blunt-force injuries, including cardiac and liver contusions, with acute inflammation and sepsis. Gregor was charged with murder. The footage was shown during his trial, leaving Corey’s mother visibly distressed in court. Source: New York Post.

AN AWARD-WINNING IRANIAN SHORT FILM THAT CHOKED ME UP ❤️ An elderly man notices a couple arguing in traffic, while their little daughter silently watches everything from the back seat. Seeing the little girl caught in the middle of their argument, he and his wife decide to do something to remind the family of the love they seem to have forgotten. Through a simple gesture involving flowers, they send them a heartfelt message. But the ending reveals something truly heartbreaking... The elderly man was never actually accompanied by his wife. He visits her grave every Thursday. The empty seat beside him holds nothing but memories of the woman he loved. The flowers he had originally brought for her were given to the arguing family instead, hoping to remind them of the love they still have. And the little girl’s response with a flower of her own makes the moment even more emotional. A man who can no longer share his love with the person he lost, yet still finds a way to bring a little love back into someone else’s life. 🫰

I appreciate that they’re standing behind this man, but do people realize Red Baron pizza was the company overworking him in the first place?
LOVE IT!!! Red Baron just publicly stood behind Walter, the worker America rallied around today. Their words… "He's still here. He's got a fan club. Including us." Fans pushed his fundraiser past $340K, and Higgsfield AI chipped in $30,000. Hard work still wins in this country. I'm buying a Red Baron tonight!

‼️URGENT ACTION REQUIRED! - SL MIGRANT WORKER'S LIFE AT RISK‼️ Worker: Pramadi Madhumali Nisansala Passport No: N8895047 SLBFE File: CD/334/2610 (CMS: 2026F034310) Sponsor: MESHARI FALEH MUTLAQ ALRASHDI Agency: Smart Travel Agency (Pvt) Ltd., Pramadi, a Sri Lankan migrant worker, currently in Saudi Arabia, has last contacted her family and friends in SL last evening around 6.27pm (SL time), and told them that she was facing numerous threats from her employer, and that she feared for her life and wanted to return home immediately. Thereafter, there has been no communication from her, except for a missed call from her number at 10.27pm (SL time). Her WhatsApp has since gone completely offline, and attempts to call her directly via her roaming number and even SMS messages have not been responded to. Given the hostility, and violent and explicit threats made by her employer, her family and friends fear that her phone has been forcibly taken from her, or worse, that she has been physically harmed, restrained, or kicked out. However, in response to desperate appeals by Pramadi to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Saudi Arabia, the officer in charge of her case, had called her employer last morning (29), and instructed him to immediately hand Pramadi back to the agency that sent her, or to the SL Embassy, as the employer had not yet obtained an Iqama (official residence permit and smart-card ID) for her, as legally required. This is after she had worked there fore four months. Having also incurred a foot injury, Pramadi was not even able to be hospitalised, as she requires an Iqama to access any services in Saudi. The Embassy official was also going to instruct the Agency that sent her, to get Pramadi back immediately, threatening to ban their agency if they did not comply. Stories like Pramadi's one, are unfortunately very common, with SL migrant workers working in the middle east in particular, having NO safeguards or assurances in place whatsoever to ensure their safety or wellbeing! We call on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Sri Lanka Vijitha Herath and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment who are wholly responsible for the safety and security of migrant workers such as Pramadhi; - To ensure her safe return home. - To fast-track and intervene in all such urgent cases of migrant workers at risk, as they work under very unsafe circumstances, to send much needed foreign exchange to Sri Lanka. - To give the highest priority to negotiations with the Saudi and other relevant Governments, to put in place at least basic bilateral safeguards and commitments to ensure the safety and security of all SL migrant workers working in the region. (This is an urgent appeal on behalf of Pramadhi's anxious family, and all information via Chanu Nimesha who has been directly in touch with Pramadi, her family and officials from the SL Embassy in Riyadh and the SL Foreign Ministry.) - Post by @EmDeeS11 facebook.com/share/p/1K4pHLx…

What if we invested in Americans the way we invest in war? Me and Sully break down something every American deserves to understand: where our tax dollars go and what else they could accomplish. Using Oreo cookies, we show what a $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget looks like and what investing just a fraction of that money could mean for affordable housing, tuition-free public college, ending homelessness, childcare, healthcare, and better teacher salaries. This isn’t about weakening our military. It’s about questioning our priorities. We can have a strong national defense AND invest in the American people. The question isn’t whether we have the money. It’s what we choose to do with it.

A shithole country may change your life forever🪞 Visit Sri Lanka! 🇱🇰
It's called the pearl of the Indian ocean since it sits at the dead center of the most valuable sea trade route (for thousands of years). Greeks (4th c. BC) and Romans (1.c AD) called it thaprobane, Chinese the Lion Kingdom (5.c AD, hence 🇱🇰) and Persians and Arabs, Serendib (where the word serendipity comes from!) Before Europeans first set afoot in SL in 1500, there were Yemeni, Arab, Egyptian, Persian, Greek, Roman Chinese, Malay peoples already moving through the ports of Srilanka trading Pearl, Gems, ivory and spices sharing religion, language and culture! 💚 Go visit 😊🪷! We are a hospitable small island people... 🌴

Tomorrow, Australia joins a global strike against war. On Friday, Australia’s Maritime Workers Union (MUA) in Melbourne will join dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents who will stop work in a coordinated strike against war. ▪️More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, in over 200 ports from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. ▪️Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports — without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves. ▪️The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. ▪️They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. ▪️Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action. ▪️The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying: “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching-pads for war.”
NEW: On Friday, dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents will stop work in a coordinated strike against war, according to the most recent information from the organizing unions. More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. Days ago the count stood at about 100 ports in 17 countries, and that figure doesn’t include the dozens of unions in other sectors that have pledged support. Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports. Nearly everything the world ships passes through the docks, and without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves. In France, the main dockers’ union says the country’s ports will be 95% shut. Italy, India, Greece and Turkey face 24-hour strikes, and Morocco and Cyprus will see stoppages of up to two hours, with rallies planned in port cities around the world. In Greece, metalworkers, ship-repair workers and young people are joining the dockers, and in the US, ILWU Local 10 is striking in Oakland and San Francisco. The unions are working from the Istanbul Declaration, signed in May, with each one deciding for itself how to take part. They are also fighting for their own jobs, against cuts from automation and for contracts, raises, shorter hours and safety. The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action. In Italy, the fight has spilled beyond the docks. The union USB has called for a nationwide general strike. Last night, the Italian government ordered transport workers back on the job last night. USB said it would defy the order and accept the steep penalties. The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching pads for war.” I’m reporting from Calabria, Italy, and I will be in Genoa tomorrow ahead of the strike to report on the ground during the mobilzation.

People worldwide have never stopped standing against genocide. Israel and its allies want us to believe otherwise. But people understand something fundamental: opposing Apartheid is an act of self-preservation. Its logics is contagious, its methods are corrosive. #PalestineEffect

Obama gave hope for many working class people, he used that to get in power -- both chambers --, then sold us to the bankers and warmongers while avoiding working people's demands by creating the illusion that wokism is progress! 🧵
