User funds are safe!
It does look like a hack on Binance. Appreciate the quick freeze from Tether (~$971m) and Circle (~$823m).
I don't manage Binance (.com) anymore, but as a shareholder, I expect all user funds will be fully covered.
Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, suspended all deposits and withdrawals as it investigates a security incident that has so far resulted in the freezing of more than $2.5 billion in assets. The suspected hack sent digital tokens tumbling. bloom.bg/4inThP3

The FBI continues to warn about two critical security flaws in PHP, a programming language used to build many websites and online services. Attackers could exploit these vulnerabilities to break into systems, putting sensitive information and business operations at risk. Security updates are available and should be applied immediately.
If you are a business owner or website operator, check whether your systems are affected. Contact your IT support team, website developer, or hosting provider for help identifying vulnerable systems and applying the necessary updates.
The FBI urges organizations to take the following steps now:
➡️ If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommended that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated.
➡️ Immediately update affected PHP installations following the guidance on php.net. Inventory where PHP runs in your environment, prioritizing internet-facing systems and vendor products that bundle PHP.
➡️ Monitor web servers for suspicious activity, including PHP processes unexpectedly launching command shells or downloading files. Ensure appropriate process-monitoring capabilities are in place to help identify potential exploitation.
➡️ If you find signs of compromise, isolate affected systems, preserve your web server and PHP logs, and report it to your local FBI field office or ic3.gov. Those reports help us identify the actors involved and warn other organizations before they become victims.
For the latest information on these vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619), follow PHP’s announcements on php.net, CERT-EU Security Advisory 2026-018, and CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.
Fallout from MSCI’s warning that it may remove Indonesia from its global equity indexes is spilling into corporate credit, causing risk premia on dollar bonds of local companies to widen to a six-year high over Asian peers. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman: "I don't even know a dramatic enough word to use… models can find bugs that are outside of the normal threat model of what we think a hacker can do… hardware-level, insane stuff… I no longer think we're gonna be able to just patch all the bugs."
It's over.

Holy shit, Indonesia raised it's deposit facility rate by 25 basis points.
They then CUT the share of deposits banks must keep at the central bank from 9% to 8% from November 1 and then to 7% from December 1.
Do they think this is what's going to fix everything?
Let me explain.
The deposit rate hike's objective is to stop the rupiah from falling. Essentially, if you pay the banks more to hold rupiah, they presumably won't sell it. Right?
But a reserve cut has the opposite effect, it frees about Rp190 trillion (about $10 billion) for banks to lend.
If you've caught on, they are basically trying to hold up their currency with their left hand, and then flooding the banks with their right?
Governments typically do this when they have two problems and one instrument.
Ok, so then if Rp190 trillion frees, who get's it?
The banks. And it's the three banks the sate controls. These are the same ones that hold most of the systems deposits. (Mandiri, BRI, BCA.)
It doesn't take a genius to see what they're doing: the state squeezes its banks for dividends, the stock crashes, the central bank hands the same banks $10 billion of liquidity, the stock recovers.
Talk about stockholm syndrome.
Let's see how this develops.

Prabowo Subianto is right to aspire to better growth for his country. Unfortunately for Indonesia, the main obstacle to fulfilling that potential is the president himself economist.com/leaders/2026/1…

Fires causing this CO pollution are mostly ignited deliberately by slash-and-burn land clearing for palm oil plantations and agriculture, not as natural seasonal wildfires, though worsened by El Niño drought.

JUST IN: 🇮🇩Indonesia’s stock market wiped out $60,000,000,000 today, its worst day in 28 years.
The Jakarta Composite closed down 11.57% at 5,185, a level not seen in almost 26 years.
The last bigger daily drop came during the 1998 Asian financial crisis, when a collapsing rupiah drove up foreign debt costs and deepened a banking crisis.
The index is now down about 40% this year.
The fall comes amid MSCI proposing to strip Indonesia of emerging-market status over opaque ownership, suspected coordinated trading and weak enforcement.
That could force funds tracking its global indices to sell Indonesian stocks.
UBS estimates around $4 BILLION in passive outflows, with active investors potentially withdrawing another $15 BILLION.
The downgrade is still pending, with a final decision due by June 2027.
The rout comes as South Korea’s KOSPI fell -14.46% this week, its worst week since the 2008 financial crisis.

🚨 Indonesia’s stock market crashes over -11% recording its biggest crash since 1998.
MSCI is considering downgrading Indonesia from an "emerging" market to a "standalone" market.
A standalone downgrade could force global funds to sell Indonesian stocks, triggering billions of dollars in outflows.
The move comes amid concerns over market transparency concentrated ownership and trading integrity.
The announcement triggered a massive sell-off and forced a temporary trading halt.
The Indonesian rupiah falls to 18,070 per dollar, nearing its record low of 18,190.
