Asseb 🤔 📍📍📍The Truth !!! In 1950, the United Nations wrote down something about Ethiopia that many people today want the world to forget. On 2 December 1950, the UN General Assembly passed Resolution 390 A (V). In its preamble, the world body took into account Ethiopia's "legitimate need for adequate access to the sea." Read that again. Not a wish. Not a threat. A legitimate need, recognised by the United Nations itself. And it was not one voice. In 1949–50, while the UN debated Eritrea's future: 📍 Ethiopia argued, "in particular, its need for adequate access to the sea." 📍The Soviet Union proposed a trusteeship "with territorial concessions to Ethiopia to provide access to the Red Sea through the port of Assab." 📍The Italo-Eritrean Association proposed "free harbour zones at Massawa and Assab." Different countries, different politics, one shared idea. Ethiopia should not be shut off from the sea. 76 years later, Ethiopia has more than 135 million people and no port of its own. The need the UN saw in 1950 did not disappear. It grew. Ethiopians are not asking for anything new. We are asking the region to remember what the world already accepted, and to talk about it at the table, in peace. A fair deal on the Red Sea is not a crime. The UN called it legitimate. #Ethiopia #RedSea #Assab #Eritrea

#Ethiopia has exercised immense patience in the face of direct aggression from the #Sudan military junta, which seized Ethiopian territory while Ethiopia was distracted by the #TPLF. Adding to the this, the SAF has armed and trained the TPLF's Army 70 to fight its own war and to attack Ethiopia. The Sudanese military junta showes off Army 70 TPLF/TDF fighters in November 2025 video.
#BREAKING: A newly surfaced video reveals that the Eritrean regime is training fringe and renegade elements of the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF) in Sudan. The footage shows a group calling themselves “Army 70” graduating in Sudan’s Gedaref State. Reports also suggest that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) continue to provide safe haven, training, and logistical support to these TDF elements.

We condemn any external interference in African conflicts. ‼️ Sudan's leadership just made a video in Amharic, aimed at Ethiopians, over the head of government. Here is my answer, in English, 😁 ..so the world can read it too. 1. We agree with your first line our two peoples do not want war. In 2019 it was Ethiopia that mediated the deal that saved Sudan's transition. That is our record. 2. A video is not evidence. 70 attacks, 187 drones, 484 civilians: these are your government's claims. No AU, IGAD or UN team has verified them. Ethiopia has rejected them as baseless‼️ 3. On Nov 4 your foreign minister spoke about Ethiopia from Cairo and took his "evidence" to the Arab League. The same day the African Union, headquartered in Addis Ababa, said "We condemn any external interference in African conflicts." 4. If the proof is real, bring it to the AU Peace and Security Council and accept joint verification on the border. Ethiopia has its own concerns about armed groups hostile to Ethiopia operating from Sudanese soil. Put both on one table. 5. Speaking to a people over its government's head, while expelling consulate staff, is not de-escalation. It is a media campaign. Ethiopians want Sudan whole, at peace, and free of every foreign hand. The road to that runs through Addis, not Cairo.
Sudan speaking directly to the Ethiopian people, in Amharic, alerting them to what their government is doing, attempting to de-escalate tensions, avoid war, and break their alliance with UAE. This assumes Ethiopians are not backing Abiy in his support to RSF. Let’s see…

A navy without a fair outlet is half a story. #Ethiopia lost the sea unfairly once. Rebuilding the force is normal for a country of our size. The path is still the same: negotiated sea access a fair deal on the Red Sea agreed with a neighbour at a table. Not rumour. Not invasion talk. A deal.
#Daily_Brief: #Ethiopian_Navy ready to operate across ‘maritime, air and land’ domains, army says The Ethiopian Navy says it has reorganized into a force capable of conducting operations across “maritime, air and land domains.” “It was not only the sea outlet that we lost unfairly, but also our navy,” Kassahun said. Naval units deployed around the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (#GERD) were conducting integrated operations to prevent illegal activities in the area, which encompasses Lake Nigat and its 70 islands. addisstandard.com/short-news…

On @AlArabiya , Sudan's adviser warned Ethiopia of confrontation. To @ReutersAfrica today, the same adviser said Khartoum is making "every possible effort to avoid an open war with Ethiopia." So which voice is the real Sudan? Look at this one week: • Nov 1, Sudan's army-led government took Ethiopia to the UN Security Council and the AU with its own numbers (70 attacks, 187 drones), which no independent body has verified. • Nov 2, Cairo and Khartoum met in their "2+2" format and once again rejected Ethiopia's dams. • Nov 4 Ethiopia asked six staff of Sudan's consulate in Assosa to leave within 48 hours (Reuters). When you are accused at the UN on one-sided claims, you have every right to decide who works on your border‼️ That is calm diplomacy, not war‼️ Ethiopia denies backing the RSF. We have our own worry too foreign support for armed rebels inside our borders. Sudan, Egypt and Eritrea deny it. Fine... Then let an independent team check both sides' claims, on both sides of the border. #Ethiopians and Sudanese are neighbours, linked by the same river, the same border markets and the same families. Ethiopia has hosted Sudanese refugees and still opens its door for peace talks. Ethiopia is the table, not the threat. Sudan's mothers and children need peace, bread and electricity, not TV wars and Cairo's agenda ‼️ 🇪🇹🇸🇩 #Ethiopia #Sudan #HornOfAfrica

The situation in #Sudan looks like Egypt’s own Gulf of Tonkin incident. Framing Ethiopia for drone strikes on Sudanese power plants makes zero sense when #Ethiopia actually sells electricity to Sudan (a deal #Egypt always opposed). Egypt is pulling out all the stops to secure the #Nile water, turning the Sudanese military into a proxy force. youtu.be/IlpzqHm9MaE?is=jF51…

Sub-Saharan Africa’s growth remains resilient, with output projected at 4.5% in both 2026 & 2027. But the outlook is clouded by rising inflation, thin buffers, & downside risks. Policies should rebuild buffers, support growth, and protect the vulnerable. imf.org/en/publications/reo/…

🇪🇹 #Ethiopia is looking to position itself as an African leader in clean energy, as it prepares to host next year’s COP32 climate summit. Alongside the #GERD, the country is building another massive hydropower project on the Omo River in the southwest, as it expands electricity production and exports power to neighbouring countries. THE NILE IS NOT THE PRIVATE PROPERTY OF EGYPT AND SUDAN: ETHIOPIA CANNOT BE EXCLUDED FROM ITS OWN RIVER! The latest agreement between Egypt and Sudan, once again reaffirming the 1959 Nile Waters Agreement and rejecting Ethiopia’s independent management of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), is yet another demonstration of their persistent disregard for historical justice, sovereign equality, and the legitimate rights of upstream nations. Let us make one fundamental fact absolutely clear: Ethiopia contributes approximately 86% of the Nile’s water, principally through the Blue Nile and other tributaries originating in its highlands. Yet Egypt and Sudan continue to behave as though the Nile were their exclusive property, with Ethiopia merely expected to obey decisions made in its absence. This is neither equitable nor acceptable. Have Egypt and Sudan forgotten history? In 1929, Egypt entered into an arrangement with Britain, which purported to regulate Nile waters on behalf of territories then under British colonial administration. Ethiopia, an independent sovereign uncolonized state, was excluded. In 1959, Egypt and Sudan went even further, signing a bilateral agreement dividing the Nile’s waters between themselves, allocating 55.5 billion cubic metres to Egypt and 18.5 billion cubic metres to Sudan, without Ethiopia’s participation or consent. Now, decades later, these two countries continue invoking those same arrangements as though they were universally binding international law, demanding that Ethiopia accept decisions it never negotiated, signed, or consented to. Under international law, an agreement between two states cannot, by itself, impose obligations on a third sovereign state without its consent. The Nile is a transboundary river, not an inherited colonial entitlement belonging exclusively to downstream countries. There is an even deeper contradiction in their latest declaration. Egypt and Sudan demand prior notification, consultation, consensus and respect for their water security, yet repeatedly demonstrate little regard for the sovereign rights and development interests of the principal source country. Does consultation apply only when their own interests are concerned? Does international law operate in only one direction? Ethiopia does not deny the legitimate water and development interests of Egypt and Sudan. It recognizes the importance of cooperation, dam safety, information exchange, and preventing significant transboundary harm. But cooperation must be founded on equitable and reasonable utilization, mutual respect and the sovereign equality of all riparian states—not historical privileges, political pressure or unilateral claims. It is also worth remembering that Ethiopia’s security concerns have repeatedly been compounded by allegations and documented tensions involving the presence and activities of hostile Ethiopian opposition groups and armed elements in neighboring territories, including concerns involving both Egypt and Sudan. Regional cooperation cannot be built on selective respect for sovereignty. Let there be no misunderstanding: Ethiopia’s sovereign rights over its natural resources are not subject to Egyptian or Sudanese approval. The 1929 and 1959 arrangements cannot be imposed on Ethiopia as binding agreements when Ethiopia was not a party to them. The 1959 agreement cannot serve as the legal foundation for granting two countries exclusive control over a shared international river while disregarding the rights of other riparian states. The GERD is a legitimate Ethiopian development project. Its operation should be addressed through good-faith technical cooperation and an equitable, mutually beneficial framework—not intimidation, threats or attempts to dictate terms. The future of the Nile must be determined through inclusive cooperation among the Nile Basin countries, respecting the rights and interests of both upstream and downstream nations.
The Nile is an international, shared river governed by several agreements, including the 1902 treaty with Ethiopia🇪🇹—which guarantees the flow of water to downstream states—as well as the 1959 agreement concluded between two independent nations #Egypt 🇪🇬& #Sudan🇸🇩. The fact that

Cairo and Khartoum met again and pointed at the 1959 Agreement. So let's read the record they skip. 🤔 1959 👉 #Egypt 55.5 bcm. #Sudan 18.5 bcm. #Ethiopia , the source of more than 86% of the Nile's water, ZERO. Ethiopia was not at the table. 🤔 But Ethiopia did not stay silent. On 23 Sept 1957, 🇪🇹 told 🇪🇬 in writing that it kept "full measure of its freedom of action" over "the water flowing from its territory." When the 1959 deal was signed, Ethiopia formally rejected it. Every Ethiopian government since has said the same. Emperor, Derg, EPRDF, today. In 1977 at the UN Water Conference, #Ethiopia said it was ready to negotiate, but if no agreement came, it had the right to develop the Nile in its own territory. The 2015 Declaration of Principles, which Egypt and Sudan signed, says use must be "equitable and reasonable" and lists "the contribution of each Basin State" as a factor. It says the dam's owner "may adjust" the operating rules "from time to time." It gives no one a veto. So no, Ethiopia will not sign a binding deal that turns a colonial-era quota into permanent law over the Abay. Rules for GERD, yes. A lock on our future, never. ‼️ Talks, yes. Data, yes. Permission, no. 🇪🇹 #GERD #ItsMyDam
