The quantum research matters even if nobody can run the attack today
that's what stood out to me in the ecdsa dotfail research on @Starknet quantum hub

β€· work estimates what an attack would need, not an attack that's already happened
for me, the useful question is what happens when those estimates keep improving
starknet's programmable accounts let developers introduce new signature methods without a network wide upgrade
the signature approves your transaction.stark proof verifies the computation. changing one doesn't mean replacing the other
existing wallets don't become quantum safe automatically though. account migration and wallet support still need work
that's the part i'm paying attention to. not just whether a chain can upgrade but how people actually move over
Wallet signature and a stark proof do different jobs. that difference matters when people talk about quantum security
this is the part of @Starknet design that stands out to me

that doesn't mean every wallet is already quantum safe. existing accounts still need to migrate and wallet support is separate work
i'd rather see a clear path to upgrading security than a claim that nothing will ever need to change
Your crypto wallet has a lock on it. what happens when someone builds a key that opens every lock of that type?
that's the real worry with quantum computing. and new math, maybe sped up by ai, could find weak spots in today's cryptography too
on chains where everyone uses the same lock, the fix has to come for the whole network at once. everyone waits for that
