Comments under this are as you’d expect- vet bros complaining about people being awarded a medal for a 6 month NATO deployment. The fact is if people want to moan about “earning medals” 2/3 OP HERRICK medals were issued to people who never set foot outside of a MOB. Get a grip.
150 soldiers, one team 🏅

I was also a Captain in Afghanistan in the dismounted close combat role. I never got time off to go to Kabul HQ.
You are dishonest, disrespectful and dishonourable @PeteHegseth
You shame your country as @SecWar
Hegseth on Afghanistan:
I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters.
It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there.
Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations.
In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Over 1100 non-American soldiers from 31 US-allied countries were killed fighting in Afghanistan, approximately 1/3 of the total combat deaths.

These are the real Nazis. They’ll be burning books next.
One more accurately, this is the modern day burning of books. #SNPNazis
Nothing like recreating PIRA signs from the troubles in South Armagh to say you’re a non violent protest…
Let’s say it for what it is, a tacit threat of PIRA violence.

Alternatively 1428 members of the Lords and MPs haven’t signed a letter in support of sectarian bigotry.
Over 20 MPs and members of the Lords have this evening issued a letter in support of the Garvaghy Road residents.
Including Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell, Diane Abbott, Zarah Sultana, and Seamus Logan from the SNP.
This follows letters of support from political leaders on Capitol Hill in the US and from the European Parliament in Brussels.
The international solidarity with the Garvaghy Road community has been incredible to see, and I want to commend all those who have offered their support.
The message couldn’t be clearer.
There can be no unwanted Orange march down the Garvaghy Road.
There is no going back.
That thing has happened again, that they say never happens…

"We cannot go backwards."
Linzi McLaren was one of the speakers at Saturday's solidarity rally in support of the residents of the Garvaghy Road.
The SDLP election candidate was one of around 1,300 people from the Protestant community who signed a letter this week calling on the Orange Order to abandon its planned parade plan.
She appealed to the Orange Order to "look towards the bigger picture" and bring the impasse to an end.
