“At the Reformation, the Church of England became protestant in order to become more truly and perfectly Catholic.” —William van Mildert (Bishop of Durham, 1826–36)

Historically, in Anglican practice sick visits were an opportunity for teaching the Bible: the BCP makes you give a sermon on Hebrews 12.
I wonder how many sick visits feature preaching or one-to-one Bible reading today?
You've heard of merging dioceses. What about diocesan maximalism? Consecrate all the rural deans; have 635 new dioceses.

Maybe you fellows should try more and smaller dioceses. In my experience, diocesan colleagues have eased burdens, inspired better practice and led by example. 😇
In my long list of DailyPrayer app updates, I'd like it to grap your GPS location and automatically add this collect if there's an Amber alert for rain in your area.
It should also display the prayer ‘For Rain’ if there's been 15 consecutive days without rainfall, ‘In the time of any common Plague of Sickness’ as announced by public health, ‘In the time of War and Tumults’, etc.

Sounds harsh, until you've had 30–50 canonically irregular prelates run into your yard within 3–5 minutes while your small kids play.

Has the Defence Secretary told the Defence Secretary this? Because I’m pretty sure he’d be horrified to discover he was cutting defence programmes and training days while simultaneously expecting a war within 1000 days.
Britain must be ready for war within 1,000 days, Defence Secretary warns

Probably my favourite version. It's much less bombastic than Olivier's or Branagh's.

Good news. Investment in infrastructure makes things better. Who knew? We should try it again one day.

Ah, the transubstantiation of British Christmas. All the accidents must stay the same in order for us to accept the substantial change.
Festive onion bahji sandwichs might make people realise that they're not celebrating Christmas; they're just eating mince pies in December.

And the CMS/BCMS split.
In the 20thC we largely contined to view the AC ↔ Evo split as *the* major divide in the CofE and put Lib Caths and Lib Evos on their respective sides.
We're beginning to see that the bigger divide is Lib ↕ Con and hence more AC ↔ Evo joint working.

This is beneath the dignity of his office and yet another sign that he has no intention of really governing, BUT…
I would be interested in how this interacted with purdah if he wanted to do it around election time.
Would Kemi also need to appear on Gogglebox for the sake of balance? Or better still would the announcer have to keep saying ‘Mrs Badenoch was unavailable for comment about this week's episode of 𝘊𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴’?
I see this has already become an issue without the issue of electoral sensitivity
