THREAD: I recently finished tweaking a data science project with a goal of identifying the ideal metric to evaluate an RB's rushing performance, isolating individual play as much as possible. Here’s the final formula: RBIS = (MTF/Attempt * 10) + YAC/ATT - (YBC/Attempt/2)

That’s the protection brother he doesn’t have A gap

Wentz is not a worthwhile pivot. At best he’s marginally better with no upside to improve (which, as frustrating as it has been with Kyler, is a possibility). Kirk Cousins might be the best phone call tbh

There was no reason he ever should have been qb3

You keep JJ McCarthy so you can put him in if this continues. Now you have no pivot. You have nothing beyond this year. There is no upside in a 5th round pick. There is no upside in making Wentz the starter. Brutal roster management.

Yes and the offensive line is the primary influencer on how many yards they get per carry. Rbs can influence it further with forced missed tackles and yards after contact. Both of which Jones is worst in the league at among backs at his volume.

Offensive line is the biggest influencer on yards per carry. Team stat.

That’s a team stat. What I’m using are creation stats. Individual. Don’t lose sight of the plot.

They absolutely do, and we can measure that off their creation stats of missed tackles forced and yards after contact. The rest is spoon fed. He’s dead last in both. It’s not that complicated.
23
These are team stats dude. He is dead last in the stats he actually individually influences. He is worse than terrible.

Yes, THIS year he is ranked DEAD LAST in both yards after contact and forced missed tackle rate. LAST year he also was dead last. You are sharing fantasy stats, a complete joke. He’s getting big holes. Any rb can run through holes. Usage does not mean he’s been good.

I am suggesting that after last season’s decline it was irresponsible to go into 2026 without a real improvement. From here, you’ve got to find a pivot on the trade block, or just give Mason the full share of the load outside of passing downs.

And yet Jones is dead last in the league among backs with 80 carries or more in BOTH yards after contact and forced missed tackle rate.

Yes that’s the problem. He creates absolutely nothing himself.

He is ranked dead last of backs with 80 or more carries in both yards after contact and forced missed tackle rate. He was also dead last in forced missed tackle rate last year. He has been atrocious.

Since everyone wants to blame injuries this season- he ranked dead last among backs with 80 carries or more in 2025 in missed tackles as well. This is nothing new.

He has quite literally been the worst back at his volume in the league and last season he also ranked dead last among backs with 80 carries or more in forced missed tackles.

Brother these are stats you can’t disagree. Last season he was also dead last in missed tackles forced among back with 80 carries or more.

Yeah, the Vikings do. Rushing is a team stat.

You sent me box score stats. His yards before contact has been healthy. He’s had a good push.

No, because last year he was dead last among backs with 80 carries or more in missed tackles forced as well. This isn’t new.
