Data centers are the closest thing to a municipal money printer for funding infrastructure and schools and the slopulist political opposition is evil.
Data centers in Loudoun County, Virginia: “We get $1.2 billion a year in local tax revenue, about 40% of all of our tax revenue...on 3% of our land”
Buddy Rizer, the county's economic development chief, explained how “data center alley” grew:
“We would have never looked at having 55 million square feet of data center, 230-some buildings. That was not the plan. The plan was to utilize the fiber loop, the internet exchange, to utilize a reclaimed water line, and buildings that were already built. That was the plan, right? And so that made a lot of sense.”
“But, you know, fast forward, today we are largely dependent on that. We get $1.2 billion a year in local tax revenue, about 40% of all of our tax revenue. And while that looks overwhelming, data centers take only about 3% of all of our land in the county. So it’s quite a return on investment. You know, 40%, $1.2 billion, on 3% of our land.”

The economically devastated Rust Belt resident asked God, “I had faith in you, but you didn’t save us. You let our town die. Why?”
To this God replied, “I sent you three data-center proposals. What more did you expect?”
This is the main street of Monroeville in Huron County, Ohio. The town voted against building a $1 billion data center nearby.
Let’s just be honest here, does this town look like it’s doing well enough to reject a $1 billion opportunity for economic development?
How are you supposed to fix cost of living when people vote against $1 billion opportunities for jobs and economic development?
NIMBYism is killing the West. The same people who hate data centres hate nuclear energy and hate new factories for manufacturing and reindustrialisation.
Literally what are you supposed to do? People want 5% GDP growth a year with 0 inflation and then you try to give them new industry and they reject it.
Foreign backed information war on the American people has done massive damage to America. People voted against their own jobs and their own economic development because they watched a TikTok saying Donald Trump and Epstein ate Jon Benet Ramsay inside a data center or something.

Today, we're proud to formally endorse @SenatorHeinrich and @SenWhitehouse's Bipartisan American Affordability & Jobs Act (BAAJA).
As part of our endorsement, CNL has sent a letter signed by 45 of our United States chapters to the US Senate in support of the legislation.
he’s so based
Dario Amodei: A lot of AI generated videos and images are fake, addictive, and just slop. Anthropic isn't interested in competing in that market.
“Google and OpenAI are fighting it out in consumer. It's existential to both of them.”
“It's existential to OpenAI because that's their whole business. Existential to Google because they have the search business.”
“For enterprise business, there's not really a demand for cats riding donkeys or whatever consumer video people want.”
“If we ever need it, we can just contract a model from someone else.”
“A lot of short-form video is fake, a lot of it's pretty addictive, a lot of it's slop.”
“It's not a part of the market that I'm tripping over myself to get involved in.”
Replying to @lawsbyana
I’m not exaggerating I have seen families being ripped apart first hand for the last two years since the Trump admin took office. I will never forgive the democrats who supported this.
Yeah i mean it’s their money but you’re their child! Maybe it’s the south asian in me but like what else is the money for?

Anyone working with Hasan should know that he’ll accuse you of lying about your beliefs to get votes.
Abdul El-Sayed surrogate Hasan Piker on whether Israel should exist: “a firm no.”
Piker then explains why El-Sayed doesn't say the same despite agreeing with him: “He probably doesn’t want that clipped so close to the election.”
Per Piker, El-Sayed’s answer is “a very reliable way to liberalize and show the illiberal and undemocratic nature of Israel.”
(Sidenote: Piker has called Fidel Castro and Che Guevara “revolutionary heroes” and given a “shouts out to Mao Zedong,” so liberal democracy is clearly not a primary concern of his.)
hate to admit it but she has a point
AOC: A note for Gen Z. If you want to understand millennial cringe, what you all call millennial cringe, this earnestness, imagine all the seats we flipped last night. That feeling, plus, on top of it, electing the first Black president ever. And on top of that, you did it the first time you ever voted. That hits generationally. You’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
And because you did it the first time you ever voted, you’re like, ‘Yeah, we can change the world. Why not? We did it the first time. Let’s just do it again.’

At 10:29 Trump says “He or She” when talking about the president. Woke is back.
President Trump calls Fox News to reflect on the election results: "A little bit surprised. I felt badly about Darline (Graham)... I thought they'd do better, actually." While talking about working with Democrats, Trump floated "the power of veto" but "I hope not to do that." And he called Fox's pollster "the worst." #Elections2026 #Midterms2026 #BlueWave
