Looking at some early PFF data, Virginia Tech blitzed on only four of Kevin Jennings' 34 dropbacks last night. The #Hokies' issues in coverage are clear and you can understand why Pry wants as much coverage help as possible, but only blitzing 11% of the time seems unbalanced.

Losing last night would have been an acceptable outcome in year 1 for VT. But not like that. That was embarrassing, especially with two weeks to prepare. Goes way beyond personnel. That was a coaching staff loss last night. They weren’t ready to play.

I’ve mentioned how bad our SOS has been. Going into last night, VT had faced the easiest schedule of any P4 team, and most of the opposing offenses were putrid. Despite this, our D was still mid to bad.
After facing a borderline elite offense, it’s clear our defense is a joke.

Bo Bassett got back to Blacksburg around 1 a.m. Tuesday after winning a Senior World title, then hit two classes and two workouts that day. He’s slated to face #1 Luke Stanich tonight. Seven days from World gold to wrestling the top-ranked guy at 141 in his NCAA debut.
Bo Bassett won a Senior World title on Friday. Just 7 days later, he may make his college debut against one of the best 141-pounders in the country.
Virginia Tech faces Lehigh this Friday, where Bassett could meet #1 Luke Stanich who just opened his season with 5 straight techs.
