The NBA is seriously UNDERestimating the Lakers, and I’m convinced most people have NO IDEA what’s coming 🗣️ The disrespect comes down to two things: JJ Redick used the preseason to evaluate his roster rather than showcase his full game plan, and this team lacks the mainstream names that gets the media excited they overlook the hunger of the players. Add the mainstream media’s disdain for Luka Dončić, and you have the perfect recipe for people to sleep on LA. Y’ALL ARE JUDGING THE PRESEASON. I’M LOOKING AT THE BIG PICTURE. JJ Redick played lineups he knows will never see the floor together in meaningful games. That’s called GAMESMANSHIP. You really think a coach with all these new pieces hasn’t added new wrinkles to his offense and defense? If you do, YOU’RE IN FOR A RUDE AWAKENING ! COLLIN SEXTON IS THE HIDDEN X-FACTOR. He didn’t even play in the preseason, and people still don’t understand how much he can elevate this offense. He’ll relieve Luka and Austin Reaves when they need breaks while bringing a completely different pace, attacking mentality, and scoring style. Opposing teams have no Lakers game footage to study showing how Sexton fits into this system. His impact could be PROFOUND. And Sexton with Sandro Mamukelashvili coming off the bench? THAT’S A CHEAT CODE. The combination of downhill scoring, pace, versatility, and offensive pressure could give second units serious problems. NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT LUKA AND BIG WALKER 👀 I’m calling it NOW: Luka Dončić and Walker Kessler will be the BEST PICK-AND-ROLL DUO IN THE NBA. Those of us who have watched Luka’s entire career know he can turn ordinary centers into serious offensive weapons. Give Luka a big who can finish, set strong screens, protect the rim, rebound, and play with a relentless motor, and you’re giving him exactly the type of partner he can dominate with. Walker isn’t some subpar center. His motor, rim protection, and commitment to doing the dirty work can win LA games that Deandre Ayton’s lack of consistent motor cost them. THE FIT IS DIFFERENT. THE DEFENSE IS DIFFERENT. THE POTENTIAL IS DIFFERENT. And here’s what makes the disrespect even crazier: THE LAKERS HAVE ALREADY WON 50-PLUS GAMES IN TWO CONSECUTIVE SEASONS, YET PEOPLE ARE QUESTIONING THEIR POTENTIAL WHEN THIS ROSTER HAS A BETTER FIT THAN THE PREVIOUS TWO. This is the BEST TEAM Luka has ever had in terms of roster construction and fit to start a season. He has the offensive freedom, complementary talent, secondary playmaking, bench scoring, and potentially the defensive support to take this team to another level. I’m not saying the championship is guaranteed. I’m saying the potential is REAL, the fit makes sense, and the pieces are there for something special.
