Yesterday ushered in a new political chapter in Washington, DC and across the country. This was a historic election, as voters broke longstanding barriers and expanded representation, reflecting the growing diversity of American public life. This election season also underscored the dangers of portraying Jews as dangerous, disloyal or responsible for society’s problems, as well as the blatant fixation on and demonization of Israel. Such antisemitic rhetoric and scapegoating fuels hatred and can lead to harassment, threats and violence. In too many places, Jewish Americans’ concerns about this were overshadowed by competing priorities or dismissed outright. As leaders transition from campaign to governance, elected leaders have a responsibility to foster an environment in which Jewish Americans, like all Americans, can fully participate in public and civic life without being subjected to special litmus tests, having their identity questioned, or being made to feel that their connection to Israel is incompatible with their place in American society. Leaders in both parties must have the courage to confront antisemitism wherever it appears, including within their own ranks. ADL stands ready to work with leaders of both parties at every level of government. We will do so by building partnerships where possible, demanding accountability where necessary and never compromising our commitment to Jewish safety and dignity.

Hasan Piker outrageously compared Detroit's Jews to the KKK in his livestream last night, saying their "supremacist attitude" is "identical." It's disgusting to compare American Jews to a white supremacist extremist movement that terrorizes Black and Jewish Americans — and that @ADL has spent over a century fighting. The irony of comparing Jews to a movement whose very ideology is steeped in Jew hatred is apparently lost on him.

We condemn the recent violence against Palestinian olive harvesters, journalists and international visitors in the West Bank, including the assault on American photojournalist Heidi Levine. These attacks are part of a broader, deeply troubling pattern of violence and intimidation that demands urgent action by Israeli authorities. We welcome the condemnations by FM Saar and the IDF and the opening of an investigation. Those steps must be followed by effective law enforcement. Confronting this extremism is essential to upholding the rule of law and the values on which Israel was founded. timesofisrael.com/european-d…

We condemn the threatening letters sent to many public officials, some of which contained unidentified white powder. Political violence, threats and intimidation are unacceptable, whether or not they result in physical harm.
Today, I received a threatening letter at my Grand Rapids, Michigan office that contained unidentified white powder. The letter, which claimed to be from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), made a direct and specific reference to an impending “civil war” beginning after the election. The letter sent to my office is similar to those received at other congressional offices across the country. The DSA has not yet addressed the attacks, either to condemn them or to take or deny responsibility. The Grand Rapids Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responded immediately. Threats and extremism are not signs of strength—they are signs of a weak mind and weak character. Political intimidation has no place in our democracy, and leaders must condemn it, not excuse it. I’ll keep standing up to bullies on the right and the left.

I’m very much still thinking of how pivotal 2016-2020 years were. Linda Sarsour was the face of the women’s march, invited to headline the largest Muslim American conference in North America with Mehdi Hasan, working for AOC, Bernie Sanders, backed by CAIR funds, leading My Muslim Vote -backing Abdul El Sayed in his first run for governor, and here she is being very honest about the strategy. When we raised the alarm on these coalitions forming around the Democratic Party, many dismissed it’s extremism, and now we’re watching the fruit of their labor. Jews are no longer humanized.
Linda Sarsour: Muslims Mustn’t Make The Mistake Of Humanizing Israelis “If you’re on the side of the oppressor, or you’re defending the oppressor, or you’re actually trying to HUMANIZE the oppressor, then that’s a problem" ------ (ISNA 55th Annual Convention - Houston,TX, 2018)

.@JonahPlatt said it best: "Having private solidarity doesn't move the needle when public spaces are being entirely surrendered to fear." Visibility is courage. When influencers wear their Jewish identity proudly, they show the rest of us what's possible. We cannot be afraid to be seen. Tell your story, out loud, in public. We are not alone. jta.org/2026/10/08/united-st…

Reducing Jewish voters' motivation to one presumed issue is unfair at best and plays into the classic antisemitic trope of dual loyalty at worst. The retributive and threatening nature of this post is shocking. The fact that it comes from an ostensibly mainstream political consultant demonstrates the utter insensitivity of so many to Jewish anxiety and the double standards to which Jewish people are held.
If 70% of Jews in Michigan are voting against a Muslim because they care more about Israel than their own country; or more than about grocery, gas and healthcare prices; then that’s on them and they’ll reap what the sow

Here are some ways respond to a question about the Iranian regime: Ayatollah Khamenei is evil. The IRGC is an enemy of the U.S. The Islamic Republic of Iran is the world's leading exporter of antisemitism, terror and Holocaust denial. The Iranian regime, a government that chants "Death to America" and exports terror to our allies, is our enemy. They murder their own civilians.
"Do you stand with us?" A young Iranian-American student tells Abdul El-Sayed his family was tormented at the hands of the Iranian regime. He says his cousin was hunted by the IRGC and his uncle was sentenced to death and lashed, then asks him directly: Do you stand "unequivocally against the IRGC"? El-Sayed does not directly condemn the IRGC by name. Instead, the Michigan Democratic Senate candidate warns against U.S.-led regime change and argues that anger toward foreign governments can be used to advance "corporate interests" tied to natural resources. He later goes further, saying regime change can become "a ploy for the interests of our corporations." "You still haven't said it, though," the student responds. "We're dying." See the tense exchange and what happens when the student presses him again: foxnews.com/politics/michiga…

Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) funding “made the difference between life and death” for Cassi Cohen of Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, MI. Without the security improvements made possible by NSGP, she might not be here today following the March antisemitic terrorist attack on her synagogue. Yesterday, Cassi and other survivors of antisemitic attacks joined ADL on Capitol Hill to urge Congress to pass the Jewish American Security Act, Right to Worship Act and Pray Safe Act. For Jewish communities across the country, these protections aren’t optional. jewishinsider.com/2026/09/an…

I was deeply moved by the beautiful Rosh Hashanah service at @TempleIsraelMI, just months after a Hezbollah-inspired terrorist attack targeted this very community. Let this be a lesson to those who seek to threaten the Jewish people or minimize the danger we face: Terror will not deter us. Our faith and resolve are stronger than your hate. Shanah Tovah. "Jewish people in Michigan should never have to choose between their identity and participation in civic life." This is a powerful statement from @ADLMichigan's Elyssa Schmier. I have to agree. The question "what are Jewish voters supposed to do," titled in @davidfrum's recent podcast in conversation with @dananessel, echoes loudly in local communities and online spaces throughout the United States as we approach midterms elections. We can not allow antisemitic rhetoric on the far ends of the political spectrum to hijack Jewish people's right to engage politically.
During this conversation with @davidfrum Michigan Attorney General @dananessel effectively captures what we hear from Jewish Michiganders every day. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…

.@DollyParton was a music legend whose impact extended far beyond the stage, including through her lifelong commitment to children’s literacy. Her passing is a profound loss for so many around the world. As fans mourned and reflected on her extraordinary legacy, hateful actors wasted no time exploiting the moment. Within hours of her death, Parton’s Wikipedia page was reportedly defaced with a swastika and the antisemitic slur “Jew lover,” and edited to glorify the perpetrator of the Sandy Hook massacre. Screenshots quickly spread online. ADL tracks the online communities where this abhorrent behavior lives. It's fast, coordinated and it's growing. Dolly spent her life putting books into children's hands, and her unshakeable legacy will not be tainted by the hate that briefly hijacked her page. We extend our condolences to the Parton family and her fans who loved her dearly. thejc.com/news/world/dolly-p…

Are the public figures and elected officials associating with Hasan Piker actually watching his streams, or do they just see his reach and ignore the rampant antisemitism?   On a recent stream, Piker once again showed extraordinary ignorance and intolerance of the Jewish community and culture. He says Israel is becoming "Jewish ISIS," comparing a democratic country to a jihadist terrorist group. This is absurd.  Piker also managed to villainize something as innocent as Jewish summer camp, claiming kids are subjected to “unlimited amounts of Zionist propaganda” and “Zionist indoctrination.” Um, has he ever been to Jewish summer camp? It’s basically softball, swimming and silliness. This would be laughable if it wasn’t so dangerous. Then he continued his rant by claiming Jewish leaders are “teaching people” the antisemitic dual loyalty trope. The Jewsplaining is extraordinary: Piker appoints himself an authority on antisemitism, lecturing Jews about what is and isn’t antisemitic while blaming the Jewish community for the hatred directed against it. Blaming the victim isn’t brave, it’s pathetic.

Storytelling is how people relate their experiences and carry on through history. Fiction deals featuring Jewish content has trended downward at major publishers since 2023. Is it for lack of Jewish authors? No. Is it for lack of Jewish proposals? No. Is it for lack of interest in our stories? No. Fewer Jewish stories means fewer Jewish voices and a community whose history and humanity is being boxed out and written off in real-time. Sometimes antisemitism is abrasive. Sometimes antisemitism is erasive. Sometimes antisemitism is overt. Sometimes antisemitism is covert. It's antisemitism just the same. jta.org/2026/07/16/ideas/i-g…

Antisemitism is no longer fringe. Extremists with antisemitic beliefs are on ballots, in primaries, winning party support, and getting appointments. And too many leaders in both parties are looking the other way. Demand that Democratic and Republican party leaders show the courage to reject antisemitism in our politics, no matter which side of the aisle they're on. action.adl.org/a/reject-anti…
