I’m done with @OpenAI. Paid $200/month for “Pro” - turns out they’ve been running GPT-4 (not even 4o) while displaying “GPT-5 Pro” on my screen. For TWO MONTHS. When I found out and emailed them? Bot replies. Every single one. The bot asks me to rate their service. I click “very dissatisfied” FOUR TIMES. Bot: “Can you tell us why you’re dissatisfied?” I write detailed emails. Upload screenshots. Explain everything. Bot: “What exactly happened?” 20+ emails. Not ONE human has read them. The bot doesn’t even remember what I wrote two emails ago. Their solution? Refund everything. Lock my account. All my work data? Gone. No backup, no warning. This is what $200/month gets you: deception + being ignored by robots. Anyone else getting scammed like this? @OpenAI @OpenaiHelp

A ton of attention over the years goes to plots comparing open to closed models. The real trend that matters for AI impacts on society is the gap between closed frontier models and local consumer models. Local models passing major milestones will have major repercussions.

A big collaboration among Harvard+MIT+Cambridge and many other. ToolUniverse proposes a standard way to plug any LLM into 600+ research tools, compose them into AI scientists, and shows it working on drug discovery with stronger candidates than baseline statins. The big deal is a working standard that lets models find, run, and refine real research tools at scale, validated with 600+ tools and a drug discovery demo that surfaces better candidates than baseline statins. Replaces one-off scripts with a shared protocol and library, which makes reliable and repeatable AI workflows faster to build and easier to reuse across problems. It defines 2 actions, Find Tool turns a plain request into a tool spec and Call Tool runs the tool and returns clean results. It includes a Tool Finder that blends keyword search, LLM context search, and embedding search, a Tool Caller that executes with checks, and a Tool Manager that unifies local tools and remote tools that follow the Model Context Protocol. Workflows come from Tool Composer, which chains tools in sequence or in parallel with feedback so models like Claude or Gemini CLI can plan and act across steps. Tool Discover can create new tools from a text description and Tool Optimizer improves weak tools using tests and quality scores. ---- Paper – arxiv. org/abs/2509.23426 Paper Title: "Democratizing AI scientists using ToolUniverse"

This paper introduces SWE-Bench Pro to test coding agents on real long tasks, showing frontier models under 25% success. proves agents are far from pro level on real work. Tasks come from copyleft repos and private startup code, to avoid leaks. Problems require multi-file changes and exclude 1 to 10 line edits. Humans add a clear problem, requirements, and exact function or class names. Tests fail first, then pass with the right patch, plus flake checks. All models use the same SWE-Agent setup, tools, and a fixed prompt. Models do better on Python and Go, and worse on JavaScript and TypeScript. Common failures include wrong fixes, syntax errors, tool errors, context overflow, and loops. Old benchmarks showed 70%+, but this set stays under 25%. ---- Paper – arxiv. org/abs/2509.16941 Paper Title: "SWE-Bench Pro: Can AI Agents Solve Long-Horizon Software Engineering Tasks?"

Now it all makes sense, Claude Sonnet 4.5 can keep its coding focus for nonstop 30 hours. And Dario Amodei just said few days back that, "The vast majority of code that is used to support Claude and to design the next Claude is now written by Claude. It's just the vast majority of it within Anthropic. And other fast moving companies, the same is true." The shift has started in all tech companies. --- From 'Axios' YT Channel.
🤯Claude Sonnet 4.5 codes nonstop for 30 hours — a shift that could reshape the future of work. The max run for GPT-5-Codex was just 7 hours. The jump from ~7 hours to 30+ hours is a massive real gain in long-horizon agent stability, meaning the model can keep a plan, keep state, and keep producing useful work without hand-holding. Anthropic and multiple outlets report that Sonnet 4.5 actually ran that long in trials, including building a Slack-style chat app with about 11,000 lines of code, which shows sustained tool use instead of aimless looping. New context editing and a memory tool in the platform help agents trim, rewrite, and persist working notes while they run, which directly supports longer sessions by preventing context bloat. Computer-use skills improved alongside endurance, with OSWorld at 61.4%, so the agent is better at recovering from small execution mistakes during multi-hour runs in a browser or desktop. For engineering teams this raises the mean time between interventions, so a single agent can push a refactor, run tests, and iterate through failures overnight with fewer manual restarts. The practical effect is less babysitting per task and higher throughput on chores like dependency upgrades, flaky test triage, and codebase-wide API migrations. If this endurance holds in your environment, unattended workflows like long data pulls, multi-service setup, or code generation plus validation become viable to run for a full workday.

Base is doing things the right way: an L2 on top of Ethereum, that uses its centralized features to provide stronger UX features, while still being tied into Ethereum's decentralized base layer for security. Base does not have custody over your funds, they cannot steal funds or stop you from withdrawing funds (this is part of the L2beat stage 1 definition). You can see Base's status as an L2 on l2beat: l2beat.com/scaling/projects/… I feel like many people have been confused by recent cynicism and think that things like L2beat are a weird sort of nerd-sharia compliance authority. This is NOT what is going on. The security that L2s provide, that L2beat measures, reflects concrete properties that protect you as a user from being rugged. Here is an explanation of how, if an L2 shuts down, users are automatically able to withdraw funds even without that L2's involvement: xitter.gq/l2beat/status/18537569… Here is an example of how L2s prevent the operator from censoring transactions, that happened on Soneium earlier this year: xitter.gq/gauthamzzz/status/1879… This is what we mean when we say that L2s are non-custodial, they are extensions of ethereum, not glorified servers that happen to submit hashes. There are concrete pathways implemented in smart contract logic on Ethereum L1, that have been successfully used in the wild, that ensure that the L2 users' funds are ultimately controlled by L1, they cannot be stolen or blocked by the L2 operator.
1/ as a follow-up to @iampaulgrewal's comments, I want to provide more detail on how the @base sequencer actually works — and fully shut down the FUD that folks are actively spreading around the role sequencers play

TOKEN2049 EXCLUSIVE: Why AI Is A Tool For Advancing Humanity, Not Something To Be Scared Of With Emad Mostaque At the DeAI summit, held by @polychaincap and @OpenledgerHQ, I had the pleasure to chat with @EMostaque, a mathematician and former CEO of Stability AI. The conversation embraced the changes that we are going to see in 2025, how to prepare for AGI, the techno-optimistic mindset, and why we shouldn't be intimidated by AI. The era of arts, philosophy, and abundance ushered in by machine learning feels all too futuristic, but Emad believes we are on the precipice of this happening. Very, very interesting times we are living in.

This study developed an open-source tool using a LLM to extract important medical information from clinical text, focusing on decompensated #LiverCirrhosis. The tool identified liver cirrhosis from free text with 100% sensitivity and 96% specificity, and showed strong results for other symptoms inc. ascites & abdominal pain, demonstrating its potential for efficiently analyzing clinical data. nature.com/articles/s41746-0…
