🚨 70,000 Displaced Families’ Tents Flooded Within Just 12 Hours as the First Winter Storm Hits the Gaza Strip
As a catastrophic winter begins to strike the Gaza Strip, just as we have repeatedly warned, we announce that 70,000 tents sheltering tens of thousands of displaced people have been flooded within only 12 hours of the first winter storm.
Dozens of walls have also collapsed, causing injuries across the Gaza Strip, including several serious injuries.
We also warn of the imminent collapse of dozens of damaged and structurally unstable buildings that were weakened by Israeli bombardment during the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza, which has continued for three consecutive years.
Initial estimates put the direct damage caused by the beginning of this storm at approximately $3 million so far.
We hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for these catastrophic consequences due to its continued closure of border crossings and its prevention of urgently needed shelter supplies and essential reconstruction materials from entering Gaza.
We call on the international community, the United Nations, and all international humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately and fulfill their humanitarian, legal, moral, and historical responsibilities.
Immediate action is needed to save the lives of displaced families and provide them with the shelter, protection, and basic necessities they desperately need.
