I have become rather fascinated with city centre airport terminals that served runways sometimes as far as 80 miles away. It’s a rather fascinating story spanning many decades and its ‘fossils’ are still around if you look closely - I made a short video doing just that 🕵️‍♂️ youtu.be/xD9Uq_2XiMo

My watch has two modes: bright mode (when it is in the ‘wrist up’ position) and a less bright, power save mode. 50% of these modes has successfully transitioned from BST to GMT overnight.

I’m afraid this will have to go to VAR. Was all of the aeroplane over all of the line?

The engines (and their thrust lines) on the Saab 340 and the 2000 are not parallel with the fuselage axis - both point to the right.

The great philosopher Emil Cioran would agree. He said “If there is anyone in this world who owes Bach everything, that is God."

Your guess seems to be confirmed by what Lars Moravy is saying in the Hagerty video (I just watched it) - an Optimus actuator allows them enough modulation on each of two valves for some yaw control on the ‘Thrust’ model.

I wonder if they have any throttle modulation capability in the thrusters, to take the sharp edge off the initial kick in the first tenth of a second or so…? Or are the valves simply on/off?

Assuming that you’re subtweeting about the Tesla Roadster (apologies if not!) there is a fundamental difference between a just-about-functional car that also wants to be an aircraft in the sense of 14CFR91, and (in the case of the Tesla) a vehicle designed to be a supercar that can get airborne for a few moments as a party piece.

Absolutely. In Lunar gravity this thing would be WILD. One triple kick flip for man, one great show for mankind…

In this fresh Design Deep Dive I tell the story of how the Soviets and the Japanese copied the DC-3 in the 1930s. I spent a zillion hours on this, so I hope that someone with a similar obsession with aviation history will find it interesting! youtu.be/xbnMeSoo97A

If aircraft aerodynamics is close to your heart and you’d like to be involved in the development of the next generation of transports, the good folk in Filton have some rather appealing-looking vacancies ag.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/Air…

It is. But you have to pull it up on your phone etc. Whereas this is always in your field of view when you’re in the room.
