BAN THE BURQA. DEFEND WOMEN. PROTECT OUR CIVILISATION. We must defend our civilisation against regressive ideologies that undermine individual liberty, equality, and the fundamental principles of an open society. We should not tolerate practices that institutionalise the subordination of Women or use religious doctrine to justify their exclusion from public life. The burqa should be banned in public spaces. A modern, democratic society must have the confidence to defend its values, uphold women's dignity and rights, and make it unequivocally clear that no ideology, religious or otherwise, stands above the law or the individual's fundamental rights. Countries with National Bans in All Public Spaces -> France: Implemented a full public ban in 2011. It prohibits covering the face in streets, on public transit, in shops, and at government buildings. -> Belgium: Enacted a national ban in 2011. Violators face fines or up to seven days in prison. -> Bulgaria: Passed a strict public ban in 2016, restricting full-face veils strictly to private homes and places of worship. -> Austria: Enacted the "Anti-Face-Veil Act" in 2017, outlawing face coverings in all public settings like public transport, courts, and schools. -> Denmark: Enacted a comprehensive public ban in 2018 covering all garments that hide the face, including the burqa and niqab. -> Switzerland: Approved a nationwide referendum to ban full-face coverings in all public spaces, which took effect after a close public vote. Countries with Partial or Institutional Restrictions -> The Netherlands: Enacted a partial ban in 2019. It does not ban the burqa on the open street, but heavily restricts it inside schools, hospitals, government buildings, and on public transport. -> Germany: Prohibits full-face coverings for drivers, soldiers, and civil servants on duty. Several German states have also banned them for all schoolchildren in classrooms. -> Italy: Does not have a modern, religion-specific ban. However, a 1975 anti-terrorism security law prohibits wearing any item that prevents personal identification in public, which local authorities occasionally use to restrict face veils. -> Norway & Latvia: Have enacted targeted restrictions, particularly prohibiting face coverings within educational institutions and specific public sectors.
