ALT MARTA Army is joining Transit Riders of the United States Together (TRUST) in their national day of action calling on Congress to pass emergency federal transit funding, both immediately and as part of sustaining support for this essential service in the long-term. See how you can take action to #SaveTransit below. Using a piece of tape, tape the hashtag #SaveTransit on your mask to bring attention to the nationwide campaign to call on Congress to pass emergency funding for transit. Take a photo or video of you wearing the mask. Share your photo on social media explaining why transit matters to you and why you think Congress should pass emergency funding for transit. Use the hashtags #SaveTransit and #TrustRidersFundTransit. Tag your House and Senate representatives. You can find your representative at www.house.gov.

ALT Go to martastories.com to make a contribution to our growing bank of rider stories. We are looking for stories that describe the impact of COVID-19 on transit ridership. These stories will be used to amplify the importance of transit on the local and national level. The pandemic has eroded revenues that pay for transit, such as passenger fares and sales taxes. With funding from the CARES Act nearly exhausted in major cities, transit is at a financial breaking point. Without additional federal aid, transit in metro Atlanta may face budget shortfalls causing prolonged service cuts more severe than those caused by the Great Recession. Service cuts as deep as 40% could leave 142,557 people without frequent full-day service, over two-thirds being non-white or Hispanic. Now is the time to act to #SaveTransit.
