We remove reviews that violate our policies, and hosts can't delete them. Only guests who actually booked the stay can leave one.
Ratings on Airbnb skew high partly because we remove listings that fall short of guest expectations.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Hosts cannot directly delete guest reviews but Airbnb policy lets listing owners & cohosts dispute them for alleged violations (retaliation) at any time; upheld disputes lead to removal. Official guides & documented cases show critical reviews removed after host reports

As wildfires in France force people from their homes, our hearts go out to those affected.
Our nonprofit, Airbnb.org is working with Mairie de Biscarosse, Mairie de Pontenx-les-Forges, and the town halls of the ten municipalities in the Médullienne Community of Municipalities to identify displaced residents in need of shelter and connect them to a free place to stay. Residents affected by the fires in Gironde and Landes should contact their local town hall for housing support.
Airbnb.org is also working with Fédération nationale des sapeurs-pompiers de France to provide free housing to firefighters who have deployed to fight the Gironde fires.
