#OTD 1948. Harold Wilson emerges as a national figure as he announces his 'Bonfire of Controls' outlining how clothing rationing will be relaxed.
Rationing on suits, footwear, plastics and knitted bathing costumes abolished.
He admits that he “wishes” he could do more.

TRUMP: I read at Fox that I'm not popular. The Fox polls are terrible. You ought to get yourself a good pollster 'cause your polls are the worst
BAIER: But tonight actually the results are pretty close to what the Fox polls showed
TRUMP: Well, I don't know about that

A mid term budget in a landslide parliament should have been much more daring and imaginative. Think of Tory chancellors mid term with much smaller or no majorities. Labour rarely win landslides. This one is being wasted.

I’m super pleased that Labour will deliver the Bakerloo Line extension!
After years of local Labour campaigning, today's Budget has provided the means to get on with the Mayor of London and TfL’s no.1 priority: extending the Bakerloo Line. Great news after years of campaigning.
SPOILER ALERT: Chancellor to cut tax duty on 100 foods...
..and cut bus fares..

Octopus picked a union. Its workers picked GMB.
Recognition isn't something a boss hands to whichever union it prefers.
It's won by the people doing the work. Our members.

Energy workers keep the lights on. Their jobs and their skills must be at the centre of every decision on our energy future.
Thank you @andrewpakes_ for making the case for GMB Energy members as Jackdaw gets the green light. 👇

So the fact that he hid from showing any leadership on the motion is not relevant ? Trying to ride two horse badly means the risk of a fall is very high and I doubt the media has much to do with pushing him off.

He got less votes in central London than Count Binface got in Clacton.
We TRIPLED our vote share.
Second best byelection result in Green Party history.
On a date Labour chose to deliberately clash same week as our conference.
All with a brand new PM in previously a "safe" seat.
Best response to absolute nonsense today?
