The @BBCr4today team never asks anyone to pay to appear on the show. Please report any email offering you a slot in exchange for cash to the police - it is a scam!
We have been made aware of scam emails being sent purporting to be from a Today members of staff inviting authors onto the show for interview. We want to make clear that our team would only ever send invitations to appear from a bbc .co.uk email address – and we would never ask people to pay to appear on the programme. These emails have been referred to the BBC’s Corporate Investigations team. Similar scam messages were covered in this recent edition of You And Yours: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002wh…

What an incredibly sad, possibly ironic, wrap-around. I have no doubt of the financial pressures and changing lifestyle / news consumption habits leading to this going from a leading daily to a weekly publication, but still sad, not least for the talented journalists affected.
