ya girl has always favored an immigration cap referendum because there's a zero percent chance of it failing and it would be humiliating for the left.
however this is dependant on the government not focusing on the referendum and doing other stuff to fix the country
The proposed death penalty referendum is the most egregious example of slopulism in British politics ATM in that it’d burn political capital, waste months, allow oponents to coalesce around the No campaign and be lost badly enough to take the death penalty off the table for fifty years, all while being completely pointless (death penalty legislation could be forced through parliament and public opinion tends to follow legislative changes).
