Went to Dubois v Wardley at the O2 last night. £9.95 for a pint of Camden Hells. We’re through the looking glass now, people

Netcompany-INEOS have lost Ganna but one important arrival that hasn't been announced yet is Vasilis Anastopoulos, who's leaving his position as Head of Performance at Astana. The Greek was very influential for Mark Cavendish and for Astana's WorldTour survival last year.

It's 17 years since the death of Frank Vandenbroucke. A graceful, one-off cycling talent who regularly went astray. The 1999 Liège-Bastogne-Liège could have been the beginning of his dominance; instead, it was his last big one-day win.

Was fascinating to hear the peloton's views on AI - and to find out how a curious prompt helped Michael Matthews take second place at the Worlds too
Artificial Intelligence chatbots and products are influencing more aspects of modern life — and cycling is no different, with AI helping with training plans and aerodynamic tweaks, among other things. But not all WorldTour riders are convinced of its usefulness or its sustainability. 📝 @Andymcgra 🔗 nyti.ms/4z3pJLI

I've had a productive day 🎉
I built a game for @FourFourTwo – all you have to do is select an XI that has scored 442 goals in Premier League history. Lot of work went into this: should you keep you occupied for the long international break (or at the very least, your lunch break) fourfourtwo.com/quiz/442goal…

I believe this isn't a recent video, given Pidcock is currently training in (rainy) Boulder. It's been taken from an Instagram post which includes July photos.

When we talk about legacy, I'm not sure a 12th airing of West Side Story on BBC 2, rather than a WC final rematch between England v Canada at 3pm, is what the RFU had in mind. Hannah Botterman: "Everyone's like, that's a bit naff." telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/…

Remco Evenepoel on his GP de Québec celebration: "I copied the 'dialled in' one [before] and Oumi told me I need to find something. It was quite some work, luckily I had a month. This morning, we decided to go with this one. I hope it's going to be my signature from now on."

The New Dark Ages, my book about the end of reading and what it means for our society is out now! By purchasing it you can help to hold back the spread of the post-literate society (and by refusing to purchase it you will only confirm my thesis!)

Pro cycling has got a serious safety problem. This is needs to be fixed, and this is urgent.
During the final kilometer of the ITT at the SauerlandRundfahrt 2026, Louis Leidert (Lidl-Trek) encountered two cars on the course that had no business being there. With the first oncoming vehicle, things could have ended very badly. Fortunately, nothing happened. Phew!
