Trump told me this morning he intends to keep Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary:
“I have every intention to keep him.”
Trump acknowledged receiving calls from people unhappy with Hegseth, but said, “I get these calls, you know, about him. I don't understand why.”
He also acknowledged it would be easier to confirm a new Defense Secretary before the Democrats take over the Senate in January.

NEW TONIGHT: At a Situation Room meeting in September that included Vance and Rubio, top officials agreed that publicly announcing small-scale strikes on Iran would hurt Republicans in vulnerable states. The idea was briefed to Trump, who agreed.
In the ensuing weeks, the U.S. military quietly conducted a series of low-level strikes, attacking missile launchers and other equipment, @WSJ reported this week

In September, senior Trump administration officials held a Situation Room discussion about the Iran war’s unpopularity. Vance, Rubio and others sat around the table as top officials said disclosing continuing strikes, whether defensive or offensive, would hurt Republicans in vulnerable states. They agreed advertising the assaults wouldn’t help election prospects, according to people familiar with the discussion.
That idea was briefed to Trump, who agreed with the approach, the people said.
