Having seen no police for two hours at Kings Cross station, there’s definitely now a visible presence. The 7AM shift has started. Whether this is a ‘surge’ though is debatable.
There will be a surge of extra police on the railway network today and tomorrow following a horror knife attack that saw 11 people stabbed on a train from Doncaster to Kings Cross.
@richardgaisford reports from Kings Cross.

I just want to send a note of support to my behind the scenes colleagues and friends at @GMB and @thismorning, and across ITV daytime.
Many, including scores of hardworking, dedicated, talented, production staff, and studio and other crew, (as has widely been reported) are being told their roles are at risk of redundancy and that they will have to compete for similar positions.
It's a very difficult time, and I want to send a public note of appreciation for everything they do and have done (as I'm not due in the building for a while to see people in person - and even when there its only a fraction).
And I think its important to be clear, in public, that this is primarily a function of the decline in linear television - and not a reflection on the quality of the work.
TV ratings (and thus for ITV, show revenue) keep dropping by, say, 10% year on year as more people switch to streaming and other online eyeball competition. That then leads to cost cutting, and job losses.
Not that understanding the rational makes it easier, for anyone facing this life challenge.
Good vibes to all.

Still living the Ryanair nightmare - solo female travellers forced to share rooms overnight with complete strangers, passengers left stranded for hours at wrong airport with no transport or communication at 6am - horrendous for families. @Ryanair @RyanairPress @RepHarryRyanair
Been stranded at Nimes Airport for over 5 hours after flight cancelled - not one Ryan Air representative to speak to @Ryanair @RyanairPress @SimonCalder - no communication for overnight hotels - and lots of crying mums and children. Exhausted Airport staff blaming Ryanair cuts.

People of Sheffield and Leeds: Rishi Sunak says he will quadruple the number of trains between Sheffield and Leeds.
As there are currently five per hour each way, that will mean 20 trains per hour: one every three minutes.
Rail boffins: can you help me understand how that works?
