If you can’t see the humor inherent in this clusterfuck of a cosmos, idk what to tell you. If we saw the world for what it truly is, we would be laughing hysterically all the time.

This is exactly what Frost’s The Road Not Taken is about. Most misinterpreted poem in history. Whole point is that, in old age, we reminisce and self-rationalize all our decisions, when the decisions were in fact arbitrary.

Ball-knower 👇🏼 “I want to be a great writer, but that means I’ll have to write write write every day for the rest of my life, and even then, I likely will never reach that status. Guess I better give up!” lol, lmao even
This is one of the most toxic lines imaginable, in a book that has sold many millions of copies. You should not give up the desire to be a saint, for instance, simply because you don't desire "the process" by which it takes to become one. Nobody does. There are many things that are worth desiring that we don't want to do what it takes to achieve, but that doesn't mean that we stop desiring; on the contrary, it's all the more reason to keep desiring them until we finally do what it takes. The desire is the very thing that breaks through our unwillingness, and might one day allow grace to break in.

If you handed the average (alleged) Bible-enjoyer the book of Ecclesiastes or Song of Solomon, there is an extremely high probability that they would have no idea it’s in there and would call it pagan foolery.

Question in good faith: is this mostly restricted to physical stuff, like arriving somewhere on time? Or does this sort of severe and chronic executive dysfunction apply to things like virtual work meetings? You may need to just resign yourself to remote jobs.
It’s because it is a moral failing.

Back in the day, Remains starred the best British craft actors alive and was taut and sincere as a guitar string, look what they’re doing to Ishiguro now dawg

Sometimes I feel deep in my gut that the universe gave me a family who occupy much of my free time so that I’m always reminded that my value (or lack thereof) is not derived from my creative output.

Whichever type of guy you’re basing this judgement on, let’s just say we’re not sending our best.

The culture is in decline. For gen x, a hidden recess in your workplace led to the inside of John Malkovitch's head. For gen z, it's just a series of empty spaces and some furniture

This is just downstream of community. The village has an appointed spiritual guide of whatever sort. Everyone else is expected to listen and absorb his wisdom. Now there is no village, and no wise man, and everyone listens to The Algorithm. Hopeless, unfortunately.
hypermodernity is imposing a cruel and unrealistic expectation on people - to be sagelike. to construct their own bespoke metaphysics and worldview. most people are incapable of this

The extent to which the USA culturally maps 1:1 onto the late Roman Empire, in all its decadence and excess and spectacle, is nowhere more apparent than in its stadiums, where dozens of Coliseums host modern gladiatorial combat on a weekly basis.
The funniest thing about this World Cup is that people are somehow shocked that country as rich as USA built some good stadiums for it and they pretend its some kind of a miracle.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
These are existing NFL stadiums that were not built for the World Cup. They have undergone modifications to meet FIFA requirements for the 2026 tournament. fifa.com/en/tournaments… espn.com/soccer/story/_…

Setting aside the particular target of theism here, gut feelings are orders of magnitude more valuable than any amount of reason. The Enlightenment was pure reddit cringe. Retvrn to the enchanted world.
What if a person feels that God is real but doesn't know it for a fact? Should this person rely on their feelings?

Crossed 20k words on my novel draft this morning. May not seem like much, but I’ve written the bulk of that in the last 6 months, amid a whole host of time- and energy-consuming life events. If I can hit 50k by the end of the year, I’ll feel really good.

The answer is not an answer to the question per se. The “no!” (exclamation mark very much necessary) is a repudiation of the question. It’s like saying “you’re asking the wrong thing.”
