This fossil, likely from Homo erectus, is the oldest human remain ever found outside Africa. Found in a dig site the size of two parking spots, it’s a major clue in the story of how early humans first ventured into Eurasia. The jaw wasn’t alone - researchers also dug up sabre-toothed tiger bones, primitive tools, and even a giraffe fossil (yes, giraffes in Georgia).
