Yep! Try your local independent retailer and see the difference!
Independent retailers lead natural products' sustainability efforts: "This isn't anything new to us. We feel we should all do our best to use less of the Earth's resources, whether it be water, clean air, healthy soil, less electricity, & certainly less carbon-emitting energy."

Great example here that one area of land can support crop & animal agriculture. It’s a false dichotomy to assume they are always separate. Livestock provide circularity to the food, fiber, and biofuels system.

This paddock has fed 300-800 animals over 4+ months after harvest and before sowing the next crop. Making use of missed grain, weeds and crop residue and preventing a mice plague.

Find a way to buy your meat directly from a small farm. We can show you how. This 4 company fact should disturb us all.
The 4 companies that control much of US beef net $1100 per cow. Farmers..$100. Buy direct, people.

Recent data. Packer margins are $1,100+ per animal. Farmer margin is $100, maybe. Why would anyone sell to this folks?

This is exactly why Argus Farm Stop exists: to give consumers more access directly to local farmers! Know your farmer, know your food!
For every $1 spent on food, only 14 cents goes to farmers. Now is the time to transform our food system to create a fairer, more transparent system, so at the end of the day more of that dollar ends up in a farmer's pocket.

Sam, you make us proud!
One of my favorite parts of living in Ann Arbor is receiving my weekly produce box from @ArgusFarmStop . Here's the mushroom and kale curry I made last night with some of the delights in yesterday's box.

This is true.
The government’s online food assistance program doesn’t include independent grocers and ignores the gaps in rural infrastructure. buff.ly/3oNYSjC
This is a good rundown of the past 4 years. Supporting industrial farming with no encouragement for small farms.
No matter who wins the White House, policy changes over the last four years will have long-term impacts on the food system—from the farm economy to food access. buff.ly/3oRkKdM #Election2020

In documents dating to 2006, government officials predicted that a pandemic would threaten critical businesses and warned them to prepare. Meatpacking companies largely ignored them, and now nearly every one of the predictions has come true. buff.ly/31f5CNP

For some farmers who sell to local markets, the closure of restaurants and schools has been compounded by farmers market closures. By some estimates, local and regional food markets could see a drop in sales of $688M between March and May. washingtonpost.com/news/vora…
