This tweet struck a chord with me, and while I don't often get personal on the Tweeters, given the point made here, I feel it's important. So here we go. Happy #pridemonth. xitter.cf/jpbrammer/status/87146…
Confession: When I was younger, I never really bought into the idea of "pride."
The latest in Carr's ongoing effort to exert government control over political information & discourse.
Today, former FCC officials issued a statement (supported by @TechFreedom & @protctdemocracy) calling his latest threat "a direct attack on free and fair elections."

During this election season, there has been a significant surge in entirely Fake Polls and Suppression Polls designed to do nothing more than interfere with the regular functioning of the electoral process and alter the normal patterns of voter turnout and enthusiasm.
Many journalists and broadcasters have been amplifying or airing these Polls without regard to basic journalistic ethics and without informing the public that those Polls lack a scientific, accurate, or even real basis.
The FCC takes these issues seriously. Broadcasters are prohibited by the terms of their federal licenses from engaging in News Distortion or promoting Broadcast Hoaxes. It is important that broadcasters comply with their public interest obligations. After all, the country benefits greatly when Americans can trust and rely on the media to report the news fairly and accurately.
Broadcasters are advised to avoid engaging in News Distortions or running Broadcast Hoaxes by airing Polls that would violate their regulatory obligations. If broadcasters believe they should provide their viewers with additional context and information about Polls they have covered, they can now take those actions consistent with FCC regulations.
In July, joined by 50 scholars of First Amendment, communications, and technology law and civil liberties organizations, we filed reply comments explaining that the FCC's broad reinterpretation of the Equal Time Rule violates the First Amendment: techfreedom.org/50-free-spee…
And in March, we led a similarly large coalition writing to Carr to address his abuse of the "public interest" standard, calling out his jawboning and reminding him that he has no authority to subject broadcast content to the whims of the administration: techfreedom.org/wp-content/u…
Lol oh? What's the White House Counsel gonna do about it?
The White House counsel's office warned Politico in a Monday letter that it had 48 hours to retract or correct recent stories revolving around COS Susie Wiles — or it would suffer unspecified consequences.

So Elon Musk, who has called for people to be prosecuted for treason because of their protected speech, provided aid to an enemy of the United States?

To be clear: Constitutionally protected speech and editorial discretion is in no sense "throwing an election"
To be clear, no-one is disputing that there is currently nothing stopping Meta or YouTube from just deciding to throw an election, or disappear an issue.
Reliance on the whims, prejudices of a few CEOs, especially those with a clear interest in pleasing those who hold governmental power, is an insane way to build a communications infrastructure in a democracy.

Curious how the electronic price tags/dynamic pricing stuff interacts with states' pricing/scanner laws.
If the price changes after you pick the item but before checkout, is the tag/scanner matching based on the price you saw, or what the shelf tag says at moment of checkout?
Walmart said it has no plans to renew a patent on technology that would allow dynamic pricing. mrf.lu/266_j
