The Queen has this afternoon agreed to make Southend a city, Boris Johnson tells the Commons. The tribute to Sir David Amess that he would most have wanted, bar none.

I'm also thinking of Sir David Amess' staff. No words can describe the horror they would have witnessed today. I hope they get the support they need.

It's hard to not feel anything but glum and sadness right now. MPs and their staff get so much abuse.
During the 2019 election I also recall the threats given to parliamentary candidates, myself included. All of it is an assault on democracy.
Something has to change.

Elon Musk made $180M when PayPal was acquired in 2002.
He put $100M in SpaceX, $70M in Tesla, and $10M in Solar City. He borrowed money for rent.
Now, he's worth $190 billion.

These people who pretend they can’t understand that policies change when facts change, or who attribute demented conspiracy theories to lockdown, or who sit around sniping 24/7 … can you imagine if they (& twitter) had been around at the start of WW2

The mean-mindedness of so many on twitter is just so grim and depressing.
What this PM is facing today is tougher – and no doubt more painful - than almost any PM in history.

I’ve heard some say how much they can’t wait for things to go back to how they were once Covid is over. Personally, I’ve found this year to be totally transformative - it’s made me a better human - and I can’t wait to go forward to a new kind of different. – at Merton, London

No other Prime Minister has had to deal with the unprecedented crisis this country is in - but @BorisJohnson is still standing firm and deserves our admiration and support: not the endless and easy sniping from armchair critics who will never experience such pressure.

I am not seeing anything comparable in the US. Interesting most are advocating staying away from the office until at least the end of the year.

Just agreed with my work that from next month I will permanently transition to remote, home-working. Same job, same pay & benefits. I save 3.5 hrs commuting, exorbitant public transport costs & lots of stress. More productivity & family time.
Get used to it.
