"We had a whole part of our country that didn't have donors or support."
Thank you to Jerop Limo, Executive Director of AYARHEP, for speaking so passionately about the impacts of funding cuts as part of the International Development Committee (IDC) Inquiry.
I donβt know what he said, but I have heard him speak and the way he talks about music - not even Beyonce has that audacity. So I believe you! π€£
Every time this country has something important to confront, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric conveniently takes centre stage, and suddenly, the real issues disappear from the conversation. A distraction that never seems to fail!

The military in eastern DRC arrested @SamMugumya, tried, & sentenced him to EIGHT years in jail.
He literally walked out of that horrible ordeal smiling. Took the "professional" Ugandan army just a few weeks to permanently disable him!
But I am supposed to be a proud Ugandan because this is the only country I have! God! πΊπ¬π

UPDATE: Police spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma says activist Praise Aloikin Opoloje is in police custody over alleged misuse of her digital accounts.
Kituuma says Opoloje will be produced in court at an appropriate time, dismissing reports that she was abducted. He, however, did not specify how she allegedly misused her social media platforms.

Hi @CHRISBARYOMUNS1
As the new Minister of Health, there is one reality I hope you will also confront - many gay Ugandans are delaying or avoiding healthcare because of fear created by that law.
Even health workers who want to provide respectful, non-discriminatory care are afraid that treating LGBTQ people could be interpreted as βpromoting homosexuality.β
When patients fear seeking care and doctors fear providing it, that becomes a public health problem. This is something the Ministry of Health urgently needs to address.
While appearing on a panel discussion in a side event on the sidelines of the ongoing UNGA in New York, a moderator asked me how we ensure homosexuals in Uganda are not discriminated while accessing healthcare since we have a law on LGBTQIA. I assured the audience, which was largely white, that our law just confirms African belief, tradition, custom, ethos and culture; that homosexuality is not African. It is just s learnt behaviour, whchi we detest. That notwithstanding, Uganda does not discriminate homosexuals while receiving all kinds of services including health care. Uganda uses the principle of Jesus; He hated sin but embraced sinners.
Hotel rooms, showers, back seats or kitchen counters were never designed for sex, but humanity has always been adaptable.
Also, I should have seen this on Monday, itβs Thursday night so you are not changing my weekend plans!

What do you feed your staff? I also want to know because how does he manage to feed 95 people for 3 months at just Ugx 16.7m?
In fact, that Headteacher should manage our national budget.
I wonder how much Balaam spends on these humiliation tours.
The headmaster needs to find better things to do with his life, professionalism and confidence. Donβt waste it being supervised by people like Balaam.
