✔️Do illegal war → higher energy bills
✔️Cut SNAP → higher grocery prices and hurt farmers and ranchers
✔️Add red tape to benefit programs → strip away your rights, freedoms, and entitlements
A vote for @MannyRutinel is a vote for radicalism in every form…
✔️ Eliminate oil and gas jobs → higher energy bills
✔️ Hurt Colorado farmers and ranchers → higher grocery prices
✔️ Expand government overreach → strip away your rights and freedoms
Vote accordingly.
It cannot be overstated how much red tape Republicans added to the process of getting Medicaid and SNAP.
Millions of people who literally qualify for these programs are being kicked off them, despite qualifying, because of all the red tape Grassley voted to add to them.
Unfortunately Republicans hv been even harder @ work raising costs+ making life harder for Americans They hv already increased gas prices and imposed tariffs and cut Medicaid and SNAP Grassley helped each step along the way
Donald Trump won because people liked the economy in 2019 and Trump promised to make the economy look like that again.
And then he pulled every single lever he could to make things worse for families:
1) higher gas prices
2) tariffs
3) Medicaid and SNAP cuts

I vaguely recall someone else saying something similar back in 2020
When I think about what’s best for my family and friends on Medicaid, that doesn’t actually make me supportive of the party that enacted the biggest cuts to Medicaid in all of history last year and has promised to make even deeper cuts.
Americans face a simple question: what is best for me and my family, my children, and my aging parents?
Republicans offer common sense solutions and a steady hand at the wheel — while the Democrats are going crazy.

Nancy Pelosi, who is regularly hammered for her perceived insider trading, has made 213 total trades since 2014. Trump exceeded that number in a single day, which just happened to precede his own tariffs announcement. My latest on the mind boggling self-enrichment:
There are a lot of people who are emotionally committed to the idea that cutting assistance doesn’t actually hurt anyone because it protects them against having to do any soul-searching.
But you can’t take food away from millions of people w/out dramatically increasing suffering
In the wake of unprecedented cuts in last year's Republican reconciliation law, SNAP participation & spending have been falling — and the decline is much deeper than the Congressional Budget Office initially projected.

ALT Graph showing actual monthly SNAP participation from July 2024 to July 2026, with horizontal lines showing actual average participation in fiscal year 2025 (42.1 million), CBO's projected fiscal year 2026 average participation (39.3 million), and projected fiscal year 2026 participation based on actual data (37.6 million).

Astonishing.
I've been tracking Trump admin corruption and self-dealing for the last 20 months.
Here are 10 stories (!!!) from just the last three weeks.
Literally. Every single one from October.

The legacy of the Trump tax cuts: running recession-level primary deficits when the economy's very much not in a recession.
Replying to @Brendan_Duke
Deficits are supposed to⬆️when we’re in a recession and when⬇️unemployment is low.
But our primary (non-interest) deficit for 2026 was more like an economy in a recession than the <4.5% unemployment economy we’re actually in.
And that’s been a pattern since the Trump tax cuts.
When you think about it, it’s kind of fucked up that the president tried to end democracy in America?
Like first he tried to change the election results. When that didn’t work, he tried to overturn the election results.
Pretty bad???

I'm thrilled to be launching Econvitals today. It's been the main way in which I have been tracking and understanding the economy over the last several months. And I decided I might as well share it with all of you--for free.
Has a combo of website, email lists & social media.
Phenomenal new piece here. The United States has unsustainable primary deficits, but it also has an investment deficit.
You shouldn't address the former by worsening the latter.
The best approach is to raise additional revenue to take care of both.
New @CenterOnBudget fiscal policy paper.
The U.S. has 2 deficits:
1. A fiscal deficit
2. An investment deficit—our failure to adopt policies making folks better off.
Fiscal policy should reduce both—not reduce one deficit by growing other. More revenue can do just that.
These to me are the most powerful graphs in the piece. The United States is a very rich nation. But those riches don't redound to our poorest citizens. We should address that.

The U.S. is the world’s richest large country. We rank high on GDP per person, and typical U.S. HH has the 2nd highest income in world
But people w/ low incomes don’t share in that prosperity—their incomes are as low or lower than people in countries less wealthy than us.
I also think this is a very powerful graph. Most people don't know it, but the US is a *very* low-tax country. We tax below avg & we spend below avg among rich nations.
Fixing our fiscal situation entirely through taxes would still leave us very low tax.

A big reason why people w/ low incomes don’t share in our prosperity is that we underinvest in economic security programs like unemployment insurance, paid leave, housing, and other benefits.
We spend FAR LESS on these programs than our peers do.
