This is how y’all lose the plot every single time
I have no respect for anyone who stood up for Jane Doe at Cornell while staying dead silent about the Palestinian women killed and sexually assaulted by israelis.

Not guilty on all nine counts. Grateful to God and to the jury for listening with care, and to the Court for upholding fairness. To my community, thank you for standing by me; you carried me🙏🏽 This was always bigger than me: justice, accountability, and access for all. The marathon continues🙏🏾⚖️🚀

Idk who needs to hear this (apparently all of twitter) but OpenAI did not just magically get the DoD to agree to the terms Anthropic was asking for. Sam is blowing smoke up your ass to distract from the fact OpenAI just took the terms Anthropic considered so egregious, it warranted jeopardizing an enormous part of their business. The DoD does not just break off a massive contract to accept the same demands 5 minutes later from someone else. Until explicitly indicated otherwise, the only logical conclusion here is that OpenAI swooped in and unscrupulously stooped lower than Anthropic was willing to go for the money. Assume all OpenAI data will now be used for what Anthropic deemed “mass domestic surveillance of Americans”. Plan and prompt accordingly.
Tonight, we reached an agreement with the Department of War to deploy our models in their classified network. In all of our interactions, the DoW displayed a deep respect for safety and a desire to partner to achieve the best possible outcome. AI safety and wide distribution of benefits are the core of our mission. Two of our most important safety principles are prohibitions on domestic mass surveillance and human responsibility for the use of force, including for autonomous weapon systems. The DoW agrees with these principles, reflects them in law and policy, and we put them into our agreement. We also will build technical safeguards to ensure our models behave as they should, which the DoW also wanted. We will deploy FDEs to help with our models and to ensure their safety, we will deploy on cloud networks only. We are asking the DoW to offer these same terms to all AI companies, which in our opinion we think everyone should be willing to accept. We have expressed our strong desire to see things de-escalate away from legal and governmental actions and towards reasonable agreements. We remain committed to serve all of humanity as best we can. The world is a complicated, messy, and sometimes dangerous place.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Government officials have contradicted Sam’s claim, saying OpenAI will allow the DoW to use their models for “all lawful purposes”. This could allow for uses Anthropic refused to engage in, namely mass surveillance tools and weapons systems with no human oversight. x.com/undersecretary…

Quite the accomplishment. This is the furthest we've advanced in the "World Cup of Tennis" and just bested a team ranked 58th while being ranked 81st.
Congratulations to Bermuda’s Davis Cup men’s tennis team on their historic World Group II victory over Georgia! 🎾🇧🇲 The team was welcomed home at L.F. Wade International Airport on February 9, where the Junior Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, Sen. Mischa Fubler, joined supporters and family members to celebrate their hard-fought 3–2 win and commend their outstanding performance on the international stage. The Davis Cup is regarded as the World Cup of tennis, and this achievement marks a proud and significant moment in Bermuda’s sporting history. Well done, team Bermuda!

Big change for student loan borrowers: The Education Department has proposed a legal settlement that would end the SAVE repayment plan. If approved by the courts, the settlement will require that no new borrowers are enrolled in the SAVE program, which based monthly bills on borrowers' incomes and was hailed by the Biden administration as the most affordable student loan repayment option in history. The GOP has made an academic hero out of a college student who got a bad grade for a bad paper—the same GOP that says “wokeness” erodes academic standards and claims to care so much about merit. These people could not look more hypocritical if they tried, and the fact that they’re making this their top priory of all things shows that if they get blown out next year it’ll be richly deserved.
Today, we had the honor of presenting Samantha with a Citation of Recognition from the Oklahoma House of Representatives, District 98, for her steadfast convictions, her commitment to speaking from a foundation of truth, and her courage in shining a light on serious concerns within Oklahoma’s higher education system. In a moment when social media and traditional media are flooded with misinformation, this story has drifted far from what actually occurred. Today, we were able to hear directly from Samantha herself, and she walked us through the real events in her own words. With all the political noise and media distractions set aside, the truth was finally able to stand on its own.
