Just be a Democrat. It’s a lot easier.
Trump should absolutely take this deal and maybe even go even further. Heck, he could save the Republican Party’s future if he just went full populist on healthcare. This would actually be better than Obamacare for whatever it’s worth. I’ve long said Republicans can take healthcare as an issue away from Democrats if they just do it correctly policy wise.

Look at how tariffs stack up with other priorities for American workers. Even if they were popular (they’re not) — and even if they didn’t raise costs (they’re do) —spending enormous political capital on them when the dominant concern is cost of living = political malpractice.
Republicans overwhelmingly support Trump's tariffs or want them even higher.

I don’t think you can understand the results in the South this week without appreciating that trade and open markets have been a boon there, that growth is a part of the culture, and that Trump has won there in spite of the economic populism, not because of it.
The New South is the anti-Rust Belt. A poor unproductive backwater made prosperous by globalization, free trade, and free markets. The governing ideology of the new GOP cannot win in the South. Either reverse course NOW, or enjoy your 9 point win in Alabama while you still can.

I feel like every single there's some huge chorus of people wildly exaggerating the impact of differential turnout and then we finally had an election where differential turnout was a huge deal and it's getting underplayed — Republicans in some states just gave up.

Upper-middle class urbanites seeing that ‘Corruption’ was a major issue in exit polls: “Wow, the voters are really sick of Jared Kushner’s back-channel negotiations with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman!” The actual voters: “Trump and Epstein killed and ate JonBenét Ramsey”

GOP Rep. Thomas Massie tells @politico he will trigger his resolution to impeach Pete Hegseth Monday or Tuesday. That will force a vote on the House floor Weds or Thurs. GOP leadership worries it could pass the House. They also have attendance problems post midterms. Massie’s resolution will be “nearly identical” to his earlier version, he says.

Massive undercovered media story: The number of influencers who are paid to produce content/shape opinion and don't disclose their funding sources. It produces huge distortion in the news/information marketplace and rewards, often very handsomely, the worst actors.
No I don’t deny that. I’ve paid you for tweets before. I haven’t for at least a year though. I also know you still get paid by others for tweets so I do think it’s fair to refer to you as an “influencer.” What percentage of your tweets are paid for?

“CHANGE” isn’t exactly a “new direction.”
Some Democratic operatives believe that the through-line of their wins was simply CHANGE— and that the next presidential nominee should represent a new direction more than any policy, identity or ideology.

I am just a tad skeptical that Susan Collins, Thom Tillis, and Lisa Murkowski will spend the lame duck after Republican Ragnarok pre-confirming Donald Trump's lifetime Supreme Court nominee
Alito won't retire in the lame duck and he doesn't need to. Trump can nominate someone to the Supreme Court and the senate can confirm without a vacancy. Then Trump can wait to sign the commission any time in the next two years. The question isn't Alito, its Cornyn/Tillis/Thune.

Just a friendly reminder that the permanent Republican majority lasted from 2004 to 2006. And the generational Democratic majority last from 2008 to 2010. Granted, that was a function of the choices both fleeting majorities made.

Look at the clown show. @SusieWiles47 is right. A majority support the GOP on immigration. Even more oppose how cruelly it was implemented. The process, not the policy, drove Hispanics away from the GOP.
From a fascinating New York Times post-mortem on the election. If true (and the reporters on this piece are very well sourced) it is beyond disturbing that the WH Chief of Staff was trying to steer the President away from the most popular issue with our voters.

Folks, this is your captain speaking. We're expecting some rough air and chop ahead, so we are turning on the seatbelt sign. Please remain seated with your seatbelts fastened. Flight attendants, please take your seats.
A White House source tells me that contrary to reports, JD Vance did not work with White House officials to draft his X post yesterday, it was more like an “FYI I’m sending this” and he did it without asking for feedback or permission.

Well imagine that... Now you know why Democrats recruited both decoy Dan and Heikes.
NEW: Alaska numbers. Peltola and Sullivan still separated by just 637 votes. The two recruits including "Decoy Dan" have more than 8,400 votes. Easily enough to sway final results.

Following Tuesday's results, expect the '28 Democratic field to look a lot like the '16 GOP primary: too big, too crowded, and full of candidates convinced they are the answer that voters are looking for. Get ready for a JV debate stage....

Let them do it. My guess is, like Trump's gerrymandering, this will ultimately backfire. These idiots on both sides think they are smarter than the system. They aren't. See Trump and gerrymandering, or Obama/Reid with judicial filibusters.
This is what all the State Legislatures are looking like. Dems now have the power to pass the National Voter Compact to effectively abolish the Electoral College.
