Hey folks!!
What is the best way to start learning how to #code for #science? Is there a particularly good resource you’d recommend to undergrad or high school students who want to get started?

Tips on asking for a #RecommendationLetter after a summer #REU. "The more time that passes between when you leave the lab and when you ask for a letter, the fewer the specific details your mentor is likely to remember."

Feeling crushed by panic because it's already July 1? Here are a few ~ myths ~ academic researchers sometimes believe because we perceive we have fewer responsibilities (or have greater freedom to arrange our schedule) during the summer. #AcademicChatter #Postdoc #GradStudent

Cleaning up my desk and found this article about my friend and colleague Ilmi Yoon from @SFSU_CompSci . It's about the PINC program to help bio and chem students learn CS.

Presenting your first #UndergraduateResearch poster this summer? If you're mentored by a #postdoc or #GradStudent, give them time to review it before the draft goes to the #PI. Their feedback will save you So.Much.Time bit.ly/1oZgMQA

I grew up having family bbqs to celebrate #Juneteenth, but I realize many of my followers aren’t familiar. June 19th, 1865 is believed to be the day the last plantation of enslaved Black people received their freedom - a full year after Lincoln “freed the slaves.”

Just in case you needed a reminder:
You’re doing great.
You’re not alone.
Don’t give up.
We’re rooting for you.
Things can still get better.
It’s not the end of the world.
A little progress is still progress.
You’re trying. That’s all that matters.

Hello hello! The master list of schools dropping the #GRE has been updated with many more programs! Check it out here: #BESTEM #SFSU
Thanks, @jdhallphd! You've influenced many people on our end @SFSU to apply to PhDs with this list!!
Here's the current list of bio/biomedical graduate programs that dropped, or plan to drop, the GRE. My plan is to maintain this list as a resource, so please let me know if there are additions/corrections! docs.google.com/spreadsheets…

We would like to say a very special congrats to ALL of the graduates who:
📍Had a low GPA
📍Didn't get viral job offers/grad acceptances
📍Had socioeconomic/familial struggles
We see you & affirm you. YOU are enough & sometimes patience is a purposeful pause in your own story❤ – at Los Angeles, CA
