Vice President Vance is mistaken.  The reason we Republicans lost yesterday is not just the war in Iran.  Yes, the resulting higher fuel prices contributed to the inflation that infuriated Americans who were promised lower prices by this administration.  But the war is not the only cause.  Arbitrary and capricious tariffs directly raised costs for all American consumers.  Lower income Americans can least afford them. Many voted for Democrats yesterday. Tariffs should be a central part, but only part, of the “honest conversation” VP Vance wants Republicans to have about the future of our party.  For instance, we all seem to oppose government-owned grocery stores.  But are we ok with government ownership of semiconductors companies and rare earth miners?  We oppose rent controls.  But do we support price controls on medicines and credit cards? The bigger question is does the Republican party now agree with the left that we need a large, powerful central government to run the economy, allocate capital and control prices? Or, do we believe that free men and women should be able to engage in commerce as they see fit and that a free enterprise system will create a higher standard of living and the greatest opportunities for the most people as it always has? Let’s have an “honest conversation.”
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

With the loss of governors races in Texas, Ohio and Georgia, there will be only one state of the top ten most populous states with a Republican governor: Florida.

Hi Friends, I feel the need to provide an update. Charlie has a form of cancer called anal sac adenocarcinoma. There is a giant mass. The next step would be to have surgery to remove most of the mass and then do chemo. He's still in fairly good spirits, but we can definitely see a difference, so we need to act quickly. To be completely open about this whole thing. It's honestly shocking how expensive all of this stuff actually is. And it is coming at a terrible time for completely unrelated reasons. But with that said, there are way more families that are far more in need than we are, so I don't feel comfortable asking for donations. But for anyone who does want to help a little, please consider joining the monthly newsletter: aghamilton29.substack.com/su… Everything from there, or subscriptions, will be going to vet bills for some time. If not interested, then maybe consider donating to the Canine Health Foundation as they have been doing important work related to canine cancer research: akcchf.org/ More than anything, I appreciate continued positive thoughts and prayers as we try to navigate this. #FuckCancer
Hi friends, I rarely do this on here, but I will get personal for a second. Charlie has been my profile picture on here for years. I send a picture of him with each week's newsletter. He's the best pup and friend we could have ever asked for. He brings us joy almost every day. We love everything about him. Even the way he takes up 80% of the bed, or sits next to you and nudges you while you're eating to demand he gets his food tax. Unfortunately, we received some devastating health news about him the other day. It's part of why I haven't been on here as much lately. We are going to do everything we can because the thought of losing him hurts too much to explain. But for now, I would really appreciate any prayers or good thoughts you can send Charlie's way. It would mean the world. #FuckCancer

Holy. Shit. The NYT is reporting that despite their denials, Mary Peltola's staff and Democratic operatives flew all over Alaska in secret to find and recruit a man named Dan Sullivan. They put him on the ballot to purposefully steal votes from Republican Dan Sullivan.

Lula put his own former lawyer on the Supreme Court. He asked the courts for voting to be extended by 2 hours. Skipped the court that should decide it and had that same former lawyer unilaterally decide to order it 2 minutes before polls close. BUT only for places that still had voting open, which were mainly Lula strongholds that were aware of the request and waited for it to be granted. This isn't just optics. They knew exactly what they were doing. It's open corruption.
I don't know enough to claim Lula cheated but....he definitely doesn't care about appearances, that's for sure.

Did you know that Egypt controlled Gaza from 1948 until 1967, but didn’t turn it into a State called Palestine? Israel hoped to return Gaza to Egypt as part of the Sinai Peace Accords, but Egypt was uninterested in taking responsibility for the Gazans. After a group of jihadists (including some Gazans who entered Egypt via tunnels) slaughtered a bunch of Egyptians in 2014, the Egyptian government closed the border, fearing for their own safety. It’s still closed today. They literally sacrificed a huge chunk of their land for safety from Gazans.

The GOP had a golden opportunity to become a multiracial majority party and destroy the left for two generations, and instead they turned things over to the Claremont Nazis
Bigoted attacks on Indian-Americans by a section of MAGA signal a deeper problem for the GOP. The multiracial coalition that powered Trump to victory in 2024 is collapsing. [My take] wsj.com/opinion/some-republi…

I would have voted no. Instead, parents should PARENT and go get books for their kid, or god forbid GO TO A PUBLIC LIBRARY THAT IS FUNDED BY..... THE GOVERNMENT!
🚨 Pennsylvania House passes bill to send a free book each month to all children under 5. Nearly every Republican voted no.

Concerns about water & power are real—and need to be addressed—but understand that every time you see a tweet that data centers are destroying the world… …that the Chinese communists are spending millions trying to convince you to believe that.
BREAKING: 𝕏 reveals it uncovered a Chinese bot farm of roughly 200,000 accounts, including hundreds used to influence U.S. debate over AI data centers & energy policy.

But this is classic Communism. The party leaders always want different rules for themselves vs everyone else. Their main real complaint is that they aren''t the ones making the rules in the current system. Everything else is just spin to try to achieve power.
As if this story couldn’t get any worse — pretend union member Gustavo Gordillo didn’t use any union labor on his $1.4M home reno. Not only that, he went ahead w/construction without some approvals from the Building Dept. It’s mind-blowing that he’s a close advisor to @NYCMayor.

A gigafactory will use 100x more water than a hyperscale data center and nearly as much electricity. It will also be staffed mostly by Tesla robots. Make this make sense.

Yeah…….stuff like this is why I’m not down with Vance 2028. Call me old school, but I don’t want a Republican Party that stans a guy who attacked FDR’s economic policies for not being redistributionist enough. Like I can acknowledge that my own fiscal views are well to the right of the median voter’s, and I’m willing to make some concessions for the sake of electoral viability. But FFS I at least want the GOP to meet me halfway and not become a full-blown right-wing social democratic party.
JD Vance on Huey Long: The great Southern populist—an interesting, kind of a crazy guy—Huey Long once said, “Every man a king” was the goal of his political program. But no man is a king if their castle is under siege by criminals.

Dude, I SO miss the 2010’s when the Tea Party was all the rage, Republicans were utterly obsessed with cutting Obamacare, and it was pretty much universally agreed upon within the GOP that welfare programs should provide the truly needy with enough to get by, but also that people shouldn’t feel comfortable living on welfare and should be incentivized to look for a way off of it and contribute to society ASAP. Look how the slopulists massacred my party dawg.
