🚨🚨New paper alert! 🚨🚨 I was super glad to contribute to this new paper positing improving metabolic health may worth exploring with the goal of preventing cancer treatment-related lymphedema. Lymphedema is a chronic condition that impacts millions of people but once it has set in, there is no cure. Management is time consuming and often expensive, and opens up the risk of skin infections and disfigurement. Why not explore avenues to prevent it? While this is only a hypothesis, through this paper we outline the factors that are known to increase risk as well as known and suspected mechanisms that may contribute to lymphedema developing instead of healthy lymphatic healing and a restoration of function. We also outline actionable factors which may improve with metabolic therapies like Therapeutic Carbohydrate Reduction and Ketogenic Diets that we speculate may be beneficial during this period of vulnerability. We hope this paper inspired curiosity to those already researching cancer where CTRL may be a concern (like breast cancer), especially those who are already using metabolic therapies like ketogenic diets in their research. We think this is a very testable hypothesis, and would love to see it researched. If it is effective in reducing the risk of lymphedema after cancer treatment (surgery/radiation) this would be HUGE for patients in the future who want to do something proactive to improve their odds. Thank you for anyone who takes the time to read and share our paper - this was something we all care about deeply because it impacts so many people in such a profound way. 🙏

I would like you all to evaluate the plausibility of the following 5 physiologic adaptations in the context of the LMHR phenotype, and if there are additional mechanisms on which to ruminate, please opine!

Why stop at diet which is only one aspect of environment? Humanity should steer away as much as possible from ancestrally consistent circadian rhythms, redlight exposure, daily physical activity, ... Clearly ancestral lunatics are complete fools! xitter.gq/upRootNutrition/status…
When humanity is consuming designer foods produced through bioreactors and precision fermentation, achieving unprecedented levels of diet-related health, all these ancestral diet lunatics would feel pretty silly.

Coronary autoregulation of blood flow via contraction is critical to maintain adequate blood supply to the myocardium. Disruption to this system can precipitate blood flow problems to the myocardium. Guess what effects VSMC contraction? LPS! ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/17…

Not all heart attacks have a clot or stenosis. Not sure why the work of Baroldi has been mostly ignored. #HeartHealth #keto #lchf #carnivore #atherosclerosis #heartattack @FatEmperor @eatmostlyfatali @ChristianAssad

Fred Provenza remarks that herbivores display higher satiety when their diets is higher in plant toxins (as it requires more time for detox). Humans don't consume anywhere close to cattle in terms of plant toxins, but could a similar phenomenon be exhibited in humans?

👀"Perhaps counterintuitively, the total CLEARANCE of LDL particles from plasma is NOT REDUCED IN HOMOZYGOUS FH. 👉On the contrary, it is markedly elevated. The total mass of LDL-cholesterol removed per day from plasma in patients with FH was three times that in normal subjects"

🚨 New Paper: Could the Carnivore Diet Revolutionize Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Treatment? frontiersin.org/journals/nut… 👉 In a case series of 10 patients with IBD, either ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease, all 10 saw major clinical improvements on a carnivore-ketogenic diet. 👉 Patients exhibited a mean increase in IBDQ-32 score (higher is better) from 95 to 216 out of a possible 224 points, indicating clinical remission. 👉 Patients are off all medications for IBD. 🌟 The Biological Plausibility 🌟 Ketogenic and carnivore diets increase ketone levels, which is linked to reduced IBD activity in prior studies. There may also be positive effects on the stem cell niche, in the intestines. Finally, low-fiber diets may therapeutically impact gut microbiota metabolism, also as shown previously. Sample patient quotes… 👨 Patient 1: “A keto-carnivore diet let me forget that I have Crohn’s. No drugs, no surgery…  The decades that I dealt with Crohn’s are like another lifetime.” 🧑Patient 3: “Within days my bowel movement changed from loose to normal! And within two weeks I had more energy than I did the past 10 years. When I last spoke with my doctor he said that if I'm feeling incredible he does not want to put me on the medication. And that was so encouraging! Especially since he has been really skeptical of the diet.” 👨Patient 6: “Carnivore seems limiting at first, but it’s actually freeing.” 🧑Patient 10: “My carnivore-ketogenic diet healed it all! After over 20 years, I’m disease and medication free! I was told that diet could not help me, but I guarantee you it helped. I lived it. I will never buy another candy bar again. And that’s something because I love sweets, but not as much as I love feeling this way.” 🤔 Could this be the future of IBD treatment? We need to invest in more research to find out. Let’s do that! For more, read the study and watch the video abstract on YouTube. youtu.be/JJQCwsy_yM8 Ht/ co-author @AdrianSotoMota #IBD #Health #GutHealth #CarnivoreDiet #KetogenicDiet #Research P.S. People will strawman this work. I encourage you to read the paper, including all patients’ powerful stories, and watch the video abstract to hear what arguments are actually being made. This isn’t about diet tribalism… it’s about pursuing curiosity and progressing research to help suffering people.

A good thread on lipid peroxidation, fatty liver, and why it’s important to build knowledge from the bottom up. TL;DR If you don’t understand chemistry you can’t understand biology. All your observations in biology are meaningless without considering different contexts.

Wrong. If you give up studying mechanisms, you must equally give up interpreting outcomes.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 Match Analysis Paper Now Published! jacc.org/doi/10.1016/j.jacad… 🙏🙏Please RT far and wide 🙏🙏 KETO-CTA (#LMHRstudy) vs Matched Controls (#MiHeart) METHODS – 80 participants from the #LMHRstudy were matched 1:1 with asymptomatic subjects from #MiHeart, considering age, gender, race, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and smoking history. PRIMARY ANALYSIS – High-resolution heart scans (#CCTA) were used for evaluating Total Plaque Score (TPS), Total Stenosis Score (TSS), and Segment Involvement Score (SIS). RESULTS Matched mean age: 55.5 years, with average #LDL cholesterol of 272 mg/dL (max LDL-C of 591 mg/dL) after an average of 4.7 years on a ketogenic diet. 🚨 There was no significant difference in coronary plaque burden between the #LMHRstudy group (mean LDL-C 272) and #MiHeart controls (mean LDL-C 123 mg/dL); note: pre-KETO LDL-C in the KETO group was 122 mg/dL. 🚨 No significant difference in CAC (median and IQR) [0 (0, 56)] vs [1 (0, 49)], p = 0.520. 🚨 No correlation between elevated LDL-C and plaque levels. ⚠️ NOTE: This analysis focuses on baseline scans. More data will follow from the Keto-CTA longitudinal study in the coming months. Please continue to consult your healthcare provider. 🙏🙏🙏 A huge thank you to everyone who made this milestone publication possible. 🙏🙏🙏 Special shout-out to @nicknorwitz, @DrRagnar, @AdrianSotoMota, @khurramn1, and of course, @BudoffMd. And a MASSIVE thanks to all who contributed their time, money, and support to help make this research a reality! (PS — This is Open Access -- so you are free to download and read in its entirety)
