A biography of Carolyn Wells is being written by @rrb_writer. Should be out soon. Wells has become a forgotten link in the history of the detective story. Rebecca’s book will change this.
Sherlock! My fondest wishes are
That on a day I yet may greet,
Haply in some far avatar,
Those hallowed rooms in Baker Street.

Well, since you ask, my favourite is the one I wrote myself. It is fun, and I like to think it is true to the characters, and some to some history of the 1890s.

The Hound of the Baskervilles. I vividly remember my dad reading it aloud to me and my little sister on an appropriately atmospheric dark and stormy night. One of my foundational childhood memories.

So many wonderful replies I haven’t had chance to read all. Sorry if it has been mentioned already but on the pastiche front can I put a word in for Bert Coules’ Further Adventures series performed by Merrison and Sachs? The Abergavenny Murder is a particular favourite.

Surely someone already said this, but @LyndsayFaye’s Dust and Shadow is THE BEST! Read it if you haven’t; it’s a treat.
