"More than any other time in history, Israel faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly."

HEGSETH DOING A RUNNER
There is talk from informed sources that Pete Hegseth is heading for the exits.
May those exits lead to life imprisonment.
Given the shithouse nature of the US polity, may pigs also have wings

Peter Oborne on the West Bank: "It is a horrific, racist project to drive out Palestinians... 65 of [the Bedouins'] communities have been destroyed in the last three years... The fact that we, the democratic, human rights-respecting West, is tolerating this horror is extraordinary."

The western legacy media were and are accomplices to the Gaza genocide. Will there be accountability?
If so, how?

Yes, correct. It's why you see the Israeli media and the Israel lobby in the western world always calling out the Greens - whichever country they're in
It's not the Greens policies they object to, it's that they can't puppeteer them like they do with the major parties
You had the Melbourne Shuffle in the 80s; Farrell is doing the Albanese Waffle

David Shoebridge asks Don Farrell if he’s aware the Sumud Flotilla was trying to provide aid to starving Palestinians.
Farrell rambles, starts talking about a book he read on Hitler’s “shocking treatment of the Jews”
Shoebridge “Minister I’ll draw you back to my question…” 🙄

Prince had quite a few takes back in the day which people just wrote off as him being eccentric.
Most takes have aged pretty well.

The die-hards really are as blind and illogical as they believe the other side is.
Their guiding light should be truth and justice and decency - not simply barracking for a team regardless because somehow they believe this is all about teams and binaries.
I wrote an article last week about men's violence where I also called out Albanese for his misogynistic manner and selfie love with Trump. The usual rusted suspects rolled up to - no, not to support or discuss the core problem of men's violence against women - but to bleat that I had "bashed" Albanese. Let me tell you I didn't even get out of 2nd gear about him in that article. Didn't even get my nails wet.
Essential reading from @leckie_cameron. The entire thread. Please.
1. Clare Armstrong via @abcnews covering the extent of online abuse directed at MPs via social media
Which is a story
But masks the much bigger story
Of a society under stress

It seems increasingly apparent that our elected representatives are serving interests other than the people who voted for them
Whilst actions & rhetoric have a chasm between them

3. IOW the vitriol is a function of, an expression of, the underlying stresses in our social & economic system
One example 👇
In a wealthy country like 🇦🇺, we have one third of households facing food insecurity
1. @FoodbankAus has released its 2026 Hunger Report
33% of homes experienced food insecurity in the last year

If, by the way, the same situation that just happened in Brazil had happened but with the parties switched -- if Bolsonaro had won last night's election and then a pro-Bolsonaro judge sent the Federal Police to seize Lula's passport and bar him from leaving the country -- every major western media outlet and liberal NGOs would be screaming about the authoritarian attack on Brazil's elections and the destruction of basic freedoms.
