My mechanic borrowed N85,000 from PalmPay. Due to unforseen issues (his child died at birth, wife was hospitalized for months, other obligations), he couldn't pay back the loan. He is willing to pay now, but look at the interest his loan has accumulated. How is this acceptable?

It might not be much, but @tuteriacorp is on track to cross N1bn in Net Revenue next month, ~1.5x same period last year, having reached N100m average monthly revenue level. Nearly N260m have been paid out to 576 tutors, more than 2x from last year. As an edtech consumer company providing tutoring and training services, this milestone means a lot, especially when we realized we’ve served less than 3,000 unique customers this year with ~78% retention MoM. Getting to N1bn a month from here should be easier. We’ve figured out product-market fit, now we’re taking on distribution. Thanks to my colleagues, our hardworking tutors and the families who have trusted us. Tuteria is reinventing. Expect the announcement soon. 🚀

Beware people obsessed with outcomes instead of building outcome machines. Its worse than ever with AI, but these people existed before. Short term results above all else, etc. Don't fall into the trap. Invest in building strong fundamentals, invisible supports, and outcomes flow like water. An outcome machine.

Most skilled jobs are about solving problems. Developers not only did so through the act of writing code, but a large part of the job was about how to effectively manage a codebase with a team.

People of pi: a significant new release, 0.84.0 is out. In settings you can now turn on fullscreen (alt screen) mode. Pi now also renders LaTeX formulas and mermaid charts in the transcript. Also in this release: improvements for Windows support. Also: AGENTS.override.md support!

I was probably one of the first people to read about dark factories when Simon posted about it and was immediately fascinated. Internally, we immediately built a dark/loghts-off factory and eventually came to the same conclusion. With no disrespect to anyone a lot of the motherships you mentioned seem to larp to make themselves project as agentic by sharing how they cut people and made structures more agentic. I’ve talked to atleast 6-7 enterprises in the 2months that have suffered the consequences ^. Educated vibing is ok, but goalmaxxing, dark factories are unsustainable for maintaining prod level code.

There's a strong assumption here that tests can fully describe a system. But I've yet to make a user facing system where that's the case.

My disillusionment with AI peaked this week as I attempted to perform complex analyses of real-life situations and model potential outcomes. I encountered several limitations rooted in: 1. A lack of full understanding of context while using natural language. 2. Limited availability of African data and relevant use cases. The AI kept producing templated responses, which I systematically challenged. Eventually, it admitted that it didn't have the answers. While I felt relieved by this acknowledgment, I was also saddened by the realization. Significant time and resources have been invested in platforms that are, at best, glorified calculators. I've come to understand what AI is suitable for and what it is not. It's wise to avoid using AI to prepare for high-stakes interactions with others. However, it can be helpful for refining outputs and generating specific inputs. Ultimately, it is not true intelligence; it is merely data manipulation.
It’s upsetting to watch so many people be led to believe a software feature created from human exhaust is an alien intelligence. It’s a psyop. LLMs are a clever way to compress and search large databases with patterns. They have now inhaled effectively all of human knowledge. From this point, there will be spikes of improvement in narrow areas, but the big models are already collapsing from inhaling their own exhaust. The core technology is at least 40 years old. Neural networks are nothing new. We’re just attaching obscene amounts of computing and data to them. The physical nature of an LLM is literally just a database of tokens (word parts) and weights (relationships) that can be queried. It is not magic. It can be made deterministic by setting the entropy aka temperature to zero. It is a clever way to store an immense amount of data and retrieve it through token predicting. “Agents” are just LLMs being queried in a loop. They take exponentially more energy and suffer the same problems as chatbots—hallucinations and sycophancy—but exponentially more complicated to solve. In reality, it’s all a category error. It’s a mirage created by the desire of a small group of elites to build a technological and financial moat around themselves. “AGI” is the McGuffin, the plot device, to serve as the messiah that will deliver people from the toils of everyday life. The broligarchs are trying to sell us our own replacements. According to them, we won’t have to drive, or work, or think anymore. The robots and AI will all do it for us. It’s the oldest con there is: magic beans. Your chatbot is not your Jesus or your girlfriend. Your Claude instance is not intelligent. It’s a search engine for human knowledge stolen from the internet and the destruction of physical books. So please understand. You are witnessing the biggest financial bubble in all of human history based on deceptive marketing, astroturfing, and cult dynamics. You are not witnessing the birth of a new intelligence. Unfortunately, that’s a battle we’re losing.

A nation that is serious about developing its human capital through education must first be seen to be serious about the quality of teachers and teaching at all levels of education delivery. This is a step in the wrong direction. Even the Holy Book says “teachers are worthy of stricter judgment” Let’s not further lower the standard of the already embattled state of education in the country!
Candidates seeking admissions into Education Programs and Agriculture non-Engineering Courses are now exempted from UTME.
