Pat released a SUPERWEAPON for Bitcoin Cash 🔥
This week Pat, a key Bitcoin Cash developer, released a new superweapon for Bitcoin Cash: Solidity contracts that run on $BCH.
NEW PROJECT REGISTERED ON BCH-1
SolidCash is a language and compiler built on CashScript. A developer writes Solidity, the compiler emits Bitcoin Cash Script, and the contract keeps its state between transactions even though BCH has no account database and no storage slot to write to.
ON L1, NOT OFF IT
Every other proof-of-work chain sends Solidity off-chain. A sidechain, a rollup, a bridge, a wrapped coin. SolidCash keeps it on L1: the Solidity and EVM model, running directly on Bitcoin's model.
That sounds impossible until you see where the state goes.
WHERE THE STATE LIVES
Into tokens. The contract becomes a CashToken category, and its variables move into the commitments of NFTs that the contract owns: one minting NFT for identity, data NFTs for fields, entry NFTs for mapping rows, chunk NFTs for long strings.
A contract stops being an account and becomes a small set of coins. Calling a function spends those coins and recreates them with new values, and the script checks the replacement before the transaction confirms.
That works until the contract reads a mapping.
HOW A MISSING KEY IS PROVEN
A transaction chooses which coins to include. If a balance sits in an entry the spender leaves out, a naive contract reads zero and hands over the goods.
SolidCash makes every mapping a sorted linked list. A read spends either the exact entry, or the entry just before where the key would sit. The second case proves absence, because the link that should point at the key points past it instead.
Then the contract needs to talk to another contract.
HOW CALLS WORK
Bitcoin Cash has no call opcode. A call is two contracts appearing in the same transaction, each checking the other's output. There is no call stack and no re-entry window, because there is no middle of an execution to re-enter.
That is also why a catch block compiles but never runs, and why a low-level call reports success even when the called code fails.
CURRENT WORK
Bytes. A contract's script must fit inside 10,000 bytes, because that is the most one input can carry. A small stateful counter lands under two thousand. A ported marketplace application compiled to 144,485 bytes, so it runs on a mock network with relaxed limits rather than under mainnet rules.
The team calls its own release a mocknet beta. @mainnet_pat has said contract splitting or per-function splitting will work, but in a future release.
WHY BCH-1 IS TRACKING IT
Because the constraint is now visible, and it is a protocol constraint rather than a compiler one. If Solidity developers can reach BCH, this is a major paradigm shift in onboarding developers.
The language works. The state model works. What comes next is getting real applications under the byte limit.
2027 is the year Bitcoin Cash's Cambrian explosion of smart contract and token apps arrives. BCH-1 will be by their side, tracking what ships and moving the needle.
XO is opening up real new capabilities on Bitcoin Cash.
Recurring payments, conditional payments, liquidity pools, and better oracle systems - all becoming practical by cutting the cost and complexity of building on BCH.
@monsterbitar breaks down what’s made possible:
What could XO unlock for Bitcoin Cash? Recurring payments. Conditional payments. Liquidity pools. New oracle systems. By reducing the cost and complexity of building on BCH, XO could make a whole new range of applications practical. @monsterbitar explains the possibilities👇
This is how Bitcoin Cash is unlocking life-saving surgical knowledge for cents.
The Journal of Global Surgery (ONE) (@jogs_one) is a community-funded, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to global surgery. Instead of the usual $3,000+ paywalls, each article has a transparent $76 community cost.
How it works with Bitcoin Cash:
- Anyone can get instant access for as little as $0.10 paid in BCH
- Every contribution chips away at the $76 total
- Once fully funded the article becomes permanently open access for everyone - no further paywalls
This new study tests a reusable suturing device for pelvic organ prolapse repair, designed specifically for low-resource settings where expensive single-use tools aren’t practical. It aims to cut costs, reduce waste, and improve access to critical surgical care.
BCH makes the micro-payments possible: fast, borderless, and low-fee enough that doctors and researchers in any country can participate and help unlock the knowledge.
Help unlock it or read it instantly here:

SolidCash is Here 🚀
Write Solidity → run it on Bitcoin Cash.
This is a big one for the BCH ecosystem. Near-complete Solidity parity, stateful contracts, and a real EVM project (@eaccmarket) already running on BCH - something that simply wasn’t possible before the 2026 upgrade.
What SolidCash Brings:
🔧 solidc - compiler that turns .scash source into runtime artifacts
🛠️ solidcash - TypeScript SDK for contracts, transactions, providers & debugging
🏗️ solidhat - Hardhat-style workflow (compilation, in-process test network, deployments, generated bindings)
🔌 Ethers 5 & 6 shims - so existing EVM tooling habits carry over
What this unlocks on BCH
- Full stablecoin (USDT-style) contracts that unwrap to native CashTokens
- ERC-20 wrappers around existing CashTokens
- EVM bridges
- The DEXes, lending protocols and DeFi primitives from EVM.
If you already know Solidity, you can already write SolidCash.
Your coding agent already knows most of the language too.
Try it now:
npm create @solidcash/solidhat@latest my-contracts
Resources
- Docs: solid.cash/docs
- Agent reference: solid.cash/agent
- Code: github.com/mainnet-cash/soli…
- Telegram: t.me/solidcash
⚠️ Still beta - don’t put serious value on it yet. Security and edge cases are being hardened. Found a gap? Open an issue and send the contract that broke it.
Huge respect to @mainnet_pat for a year of focused work (plus earlier tinkering) that turns the 2026 VM upgrades into something developers can actually use.
Let's go BCHers 🔥
SolidCash is out: write Solidity, run it on Bitcoin Cash.
Near-complete Solidity parity. Stateful contracts. A real EVM project, @eaccmarket, running on BCH*. One year of active development, and more than a year of tinkering before that.
None of this was possible before the BCH 2026 upgrade. The upgrade gave the VM the room. SolidCash is what you can do with it.
What SolidCash is:
- solidc, the compiler: .scash source to runtime artifacts
- solidcash, the TypeScript SDK: contracts, transactions, network providers, debugging
- solidhat, the Hardhat analog: whole-project compilation, in-process test network, deployments, generated bindings
- Ethers 5 and 6 shims, so existing EVM tooling habits carry over
What that opens up: a full stablecoin USDT contract on BCH, unwrapping to native CashTokens. ERC-20 contracts that wrap existing CashTokens. EVM bridges. The EVM-like DEXes, lending and DeFi that BCH has been missing. Embrace them.
If you can write Solidity, you can write SolidCash.
Try it: npm create @solidcash/solidhat@latest my-contracts
Or point your AI at it. Solidity parity means your coding agent already knows most of the language. Hand it the agent reference at solidcash.org/AGENTS.md together with your Solidity contract, and let it do the port or cross-compilation.
Disclaimer: this is still a beta. Do not bet too much value on it. Security might need further hardening, and there will be undiscovered gaps. Found a gap? Open an issue and send the contract that broke. Let us close them together and make it better.
Thanks to molecular (@cotta3) and @toorik for the initial support.

* Under relaxed consensus rules: those contracts are larger than today's mainnet limits allow.

ParyonUSD just published their case for 1-minute blocks on Bitcoin Cash.
Redemptions become more predictable and fairer for borrowers, while the overall economic and security model stays intact.
ParyonUSD has already adapted its contracts and is testing on chipnet.
This is practical infrastructure progress, not theory.
Read the full write-up below.
What's your take on 1-minute blocks on Bitcoin Cash?
We've written a new blogpost:
Why We Support 1-Minute Blocks
ParyonUSD supports the CHIP to activate 1-Minute Blocks on Bitcoin Cash. We've written before that faster blocks is likely the biggest win for DeFi on BCH

CME launched the first CFTC-regulated Bitcoin Cash futures on Monday.
Standard and micro contracts, cash-settled against a regulated benchmark. Day-one volume was modest, but the listing puts BCH on a path that other assets have used toward broader institutional access.
Full breakdown from BCH-1
Bitcoin Cash has had futures markets since November 2017, four months after the chain split.
What it did not have until Monday was one that an American pension fund is allowed to use.
Before that, the short version. BitMEX listed a BCH/BTC futures contract on 14 November 2017 that settled in bitcoin. Binance launched a BCH/USDT perpetual in December 2019. BitMEX followed with a quanto perpetual in June 2020.
Today there are dozens of venues listing BCH perpetuals, and the CoinDesk ticker page will show you a dozen prices within a second of each other.
All of those share a feature. They are offshore, they are margined in crypto, and no US regulator supervises them.
That is the gap Monday closed.
WHAT A FUTURES CONTRACT ACTUALLY IS
A futures contract is an agreement about the price of something at a later date. You do not have to own the thing. If you want exposure to Bitcoin Cash without buying coins, storing them, or trusting an exchange to hold them, a futures contract gives you that exposure.
These contracts are cash-settled. No coins move. At the end, one side pays the other in dollars, based on a published price. The Bitcoin Cash network never knows the trade happened.
Each contract has a fixed size. The standard one covers 250 BCH. The micro covers 25 BCH, a tenth as much, for traders who want a smaller position.
WHY THIS EXCHANGE IS DIFFERENT
CME is a CFTC-regulated exchange, which means the contracts sit inside American derivatives law: clearing, position limits, reporting, and a regulator with authority over the market.
To list there, an asset needs a settlement price that survives regulatory scrutiny. Bitcoin Cash has had one since April 2022, a benchmark calculated daily by fixed rules from trades on regulated exchanges, registered under UK benchmark rules.
That benchmark is why the contract exists. The benchmark is also why the contract matters beyond trading: it is the price a fund can settle against without asking anyone's opinion.
WHAT HAPPENED ON DAY ONE
The first session was Monday 19 October. CME published the numbers the next morning.
The standard contract traded five contracts. All five were block trades, meaning two parties negotiated privately and then reported the trade to the exchange, which guarantees it, rather than matching on the public order book. Nothing traded electronically. Five is the smallest block trade the rules allow.
The micro contract traded 160 contracts, all of it on the electronic order book. Forty were still open when the session ended.
Add it up: 5,250 BCH changed hands, about $1.46 million at the time, and 2,250 BCH of positions were still standing at the close.
WHAT THOSE NUMBERS SAY
The activity was in the small contract, not the large one. That means smaller participants are using it, not only the giant funds that get the headlines. For a first day, that is the better of the two signs.
Three quarters of the trading went in and out within the session. 160 contracts traded, 40 stayed open. That is what market makers do when they provide liquidity.
And the scale. CME's crypto business averages more than 242,000 contracts a day this year. Bitcoin Cash did 165. A first day tests whether the machinery works. We are still early days.
THE SIX THINGS AN INSTITUTION CHECKS
When a pension fund or a corporate treasurer looks at an asset, it runs a checklist. Bitcoin Cash now passes five of six.
1. A regulated place to trade. Yes, since Monday.
2. A trustworthy price to settle against. Yes, a benchmark registered under UK rules and published daily since 2022.
3. Somewhere safe to store the coins. Yes. Coinbase Custody Trust, a New York-chartered fiduciary, already holds BCH for institutional products.
4. A product you can buy in an ordinary brokerage account. Partly. The 21Shares Bitcoin Cash ETP has traded in Europe since 2019. There is no US version yet.
5. A supply you can verify. Yes. Fixed at 21 million, with halvings on a schedule anyone can check.
6. A US spot fund. Not yet. Grayscale has filed to convert its trust into an NYSE Arca ETF, but the filing is not approved.
WHY THE SIXTH ONE HAS A DATE
In September 2025 the SEC approved rules that let a commodity fund list without its own product-by-product approval. Two things have to be true. The asset must have had a regulated futures contract trading for at least six months, and the listing exchange must have a surveillance agreement with that futures market. The first condition started its clock on Monday, which points at roughly April 2027.
It is not automatic. The fund still needs its registration declared effective, and a futures listing is not an approval of any spot fund.
WHAT THIS MEANS
Bitcoin Cash did not become an institutional asset on Monday. It already was, but it's moving up the value chain, slowly but surely.

Paolo on Faster Blocks vs. what actually matters for BCH:
• Perfect the zero-conf experience (extend DSProof + better risk tools)
• Strengthen privacy & fungibility for CashTokens
• Build merchant infrastructure that doesn’t require technical knowledge
• Remember the goal is peer-to-peer electronic cash, not more protocol metrics
