blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandp… Andy Burnham could make a case for offering a single market deal without a referendum, but the Tories and Reform could pledge to reverse it on the same basis A referendum would cement the deal at home and convince the EU we were serious writes @BlogWyatt

news.sky.com/story/multiple-… Security experts said the spate of bomb threats yesterday had the hallmarks of a coordinated "hybrid attack". Nobody knows who is behind it If @BlogWyatt had to guess, Russia, North Korea and Iran would be top 3 on the list.

thetimes.com/world/russia-uk… Putin is likely to see defeat of Trump's allies at home as evidence that his relationship with Trump is entering its endgame Anyway, he no longer believed that Trump could force Ukraine to a peace deal on Moscow’s terms, writes @marcbennetts1 👍for 🇺🇦

hup.harvard.edu/features/are… As Trump hints at pardons for his allies to protect them from future prosecutions, it is a good time to ask how far the Presidential pardoning power goes. Not as far as pre-emptive pardons, writes scholar Saikrishna Prakash @UVALaw Will the judges agree?

"I always thought during the Brexit negotiations that the door will remain open" to the UK, the EU's former Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier tells @CathyNewman. Barnier says the UK would be able to rejoin the EU without having to take the euro as its currency

Bad outcome for Trump Hopefully pluses for Ukraine/Europe But nothing is certain with Trump Vance and Rubio have to consider how to keep their Presidential ambitions alive If Vance hints at dissent from Trump he can't be sacked Perhaps getting sacked would help Rubio?

Badenoch should back this Pragmatic Tory voters can see the difference between alignment on agri-food issues and joining the single market or EU Say "this far and no further" if you must, but rejecting this is babies/bathwater etc. If it goes through will you really reverse it?
bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmp3… The UK/EU draft deal on removing post-Brexit checks from food/agriculture exports by the UK aligning with EU rules has been welcomed by supermarkets, farmers and small businesses, but rejected by Tories and Reform who object to any alignment with the EU.

Growing US 🇺🇸 re-alignment with Russia 🇷🇺 means sanction relief; possible north corridor opening & energy/defence changes. Türkiye 🇹🇷 loses geo-political bridge position; sanctions circumvention hub; & faces more commercial, energy & defence competition & less middle corridor.

President Eisenhower, 31 October, 1956. A Republican in a mould which puts Trump to shame.

ukandeu.ac.uk/should-the-uk-… I published this blog 4 years ago, almost to the day As Andy Burnham floats ambitious options for UK links with the EU, it seems right to give it a second airing Should the UK join the United States of Europe, or be its closest ally and trading partner?

thetimes.com/uk/politics/art… Making the argument for the EU is about making a political argument as well as an economic one. The EU is already a functioning economic union but its evolution into a political union is still an aspiration. Do we share that aspiration?

Trump is pressuring Ukraine to concede to Putin, a known adversary aligned with China, Iran and North Korea against American interests. We must not help Putin divide us from our allies. A stronger Ukraine and united NATO are vital to America’s security and economic interests. wsj.com/opinion/coddling-put…
