Carlos Sainz has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will require surgery.
As from FP3 and for the rest of this weekend, he will be replaced by reserve driver Oliver Bearman. Oliver will therefore take no further part in this round of the F2 Championship.
The Ferrari family wishes Carlos a speedy recovery.

I very nearly predicted this happening, although I said the cars would rip up the temporary curbs. Still time for that to happen. A track so desperately rushed has caused issues with manholes or drainage covers in the past. Do F1 not learn? Sainz is lucky he walked away.
We've been off for a while, mainly due to some of us falling out of love with the supposed pinnacle of motorsport, #F1. What has happened at the Liberty Media organised #LasVegasGP is a metaphor for what they have made @F1 currently, all fur coat and no knickers.

No apology or even a hint of one to fans in this, which is extremely disappointing. And it is borderline self-congratulatory in places. Friday ticketholders deserve refunds but based on this lengthy justification I would be very surprised.
