ALT Four-panel comic titled “The power of the nap” by purr.in.ink. A fluffy black cat lies on a bookshelf beside three books, with one front paw dangling over the edge. In the first three panels, the scene is dark and grey as the cat’s eyes grow rounder and wider. The text reads: “The world… may be terrible. But when we sleep…” In the final panel, the cat closes its eyes peacefully, and the scene changes to soft lavender, blue and pastel colours. The text concludes: “we sleep.”

What a world we live in! You’re not allowed to cycle but you can feel free to injure someone!

Just Alex Armstrong from GB News doing what any good journalist would do - making up lies to stir up hatred and being called out for it by the police.

The chances of being killed by a landmine delivered by a bear are low, but they are never zero.
Hopefully somewhere in NASA theirs a scientist who took a weekend trip to somewhere rocky and put that into a moon rock container and they gave that to the idiot.
.@NASAAdmin Jared Isaacman on Artemis III crew visit to the White House: "Not only did the president wanna meet the Artemis III group, we had an opportunity to present to him the largest moon rock we ever brought back from the Apollo era."

Just a casual reminder that Germans who “didn’t bother to vote” in 1932 didn’t get a chance again until 1946, after Hitler’s death. — There’s a lesson there.

If you possibly can, visit Auschwitz once in your lifetime.
You won't enjoy it, but you'll be the better for it - and realise, as never before, the infinite value of even a single human life.
27 October 1941 | After an escape of a prisoner from Block 18a in Auschwitz I (in the picture) SS men chose 10 prisoners, Poles, to be starved in Block 11 cells.
These were:
Henryk Kozłecki (11278)
Jan Skierniewski (21157)
Władysław Maciąg (20908)
JĂłzef Tomczak (21373)
Stanisław Kocek (21173)
Stefan Kiśniewicz (16189)
Zdzisław Witamborski (13882)
Franciszek Roller (21086)
Paweł Olszówka (21062)
Wacław Kieszkowski (14634)
Six of them died of starvation between 31 October and 10 November. Prisoners: Skierniewski, Tomczak, and Roller were shot on November 11 at the 'Wall of Death'.
Henryk Kozłecki (in the picture) was released from the bunker to the camp on 29 October. This is the only known case of the prisoner being released from the starvation bunker. He was executed by shooting on 14 June 1942.

Management have introduced a new notice at the Ticket Office.
Apparently, accepting bribes from passengers is considered a breach of railway regulations.
I would like to make it absolutely clear that I have NEVER accepted a bribe.

Great tips from Brazil on how they turned things around for Lula online and offline:
1. Don’t ever engage, block far-right accounts immediately.
2. Don't debunk, focus on making new content on your platform.
3. Use all the tools at your disposal.
4. Be equally online and offline.

On Saturday 24th October, our MIST System was activated for its first real incident in the Southbound tunnel, in response to a vehicle fire.
The Fixed Fire Suppression System was the first of its kind to be installed in a British tunnel, and it is a critical part of our tunnels safety. Activated via our SCADA monitoring system, the system can target three fire zones, including the affected zone plus one zone either side, to fully contain the fire until emergency services respond. While we hope it's rarely needed, Saturday's incident demonstrated exactly why this investment in safety and regular maintenance is so important.
We are pleased to share that the incident was safely resolved within an hour, with no reported injuries, and attendance from the North East Ambulance Service was not required.
A big thank you to our Operational Delivery team, as well as emergency services who responded quickly and professionally.
