Went on BBC Politics Live to discuss why Zionism is a racist ideology. The anchor and all three panelists looked like they were about to cry at the end. Very weird behaviour.

I'm proud of my Green Party councillor, Mustafa Ahmed, for not backing down.
Zionism is racism.
The Green Party will not be bullied by Burnham acting as a mouthpiece for US imperialism and its Israeli proxy. His political manoeuvring is unleashing chaos in local communities across Britain. He should answer to the people, not bend the knee to empire.
It's interesting seeing the Left Zionists (Trots-CPB-Novara-Labour-Green Leadership) all cosying up on the wrong side of this issue.
I guess Palestine activism becomes "divisive" when groups start supporting Palestinian resistance positions, rather than the CPB and Counterfire.
Good analysis and commentary here on GP 'gotcha' politics by @David_Jamieson7. As @BenJamal48 wrote recently "the discourse around the motion centred on how people define themselves, rather than on the realities of the racist oppression Palestinians face" middleeasteye.net/opinion/uk…

🇬🇧 Four against one on BBC Politics Live: Green Party activist Ashok Kumar faced a hostile grilling from the pro-Israel host and three pro-Israel panelists over his party’s “Zionism is racism” motion. Kumar explained the motion and defended Palestinian rights and a single democratic state ⬇️

Dear @greenpartyus, @GPUSyouth, US Greens, and potential Greens:
THIS THIS THIS 👇👇👇
🎥 “We want to go the Farage route, not the Lib Dem route.”
Ashok Kumar of Greens for Palestine spoke to Novara Media about strategy behind the Green Party’s “Zionism is racism” motion, which took a year to organize and was designed to expose Labour’s politics. He said PM Andy Burnham’s response revealed him as little different from Keir Starmer.
Inspired by Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s France Unbowed and its “strategy of conflict,” the idea is to set the terms of debate, provoke a backlash, and heighten contradictions to force opponents to reveal positions.
Rather than chase more MPs by moderating its politics, Kumar says the Greens should use confrontation to shift the debate leftward and become an anti-establishment force.
“We want to drag [the paradigm] to the left kicking and screaming.”

The same dynamic exists among US left outlets. Instead of legitimizing left positions, they stigmatize the defund movement as "woke 1" and "crazy," they concern troll about "slogans" including "from the river to the sea," they defend DSA electeds after betraying campaign promises, & they insist it was a very smart idea to "keep their powder dry" instead of using their leverage in the House to gain concessions for the left.

It’s pretty cool to see something real finally happening in British politics. I’ve been pretty much ignoring that entire stupid island since they took down Corbyn.

One against four!An excellent, articulated push back on the antisemitic conflation of Judaism & Zionism. The petulance of these hypocrites is every bit as much about being stood up to as it is about the ZiR. The entitlement is off the scale. Chakrabarti exposed, an utter disgrace

Fantastic account of why Zionism is racism. Respect is due.
At last a party that decent human beings can vote for. #VoteGreen

I've argued it's time we move on from this debate but, being hypocritical for a moment, I want to say that Aaron and Ashok's discussion on the ZiR motion was the most expansive and insightful I've seen so far. Ashok was given space to really dig into the strategy behind the motion and made a superb case for its long-term benefits. Worth watching in full at his link below.

This is 100% the correct and best strategy. And as a side note, works just as well for small local groups as it does for national parties. The Greens are looking more and more serious by the day.
