When everyone can make anything, everything loses value and nothing becomes worth anyone's time. WHY would anyone think this is a good thing
I made a full original game in 24 hours using AI Stack: Opus 5.5 + Flux 3 Max + GPT Image + Tripo + Blender + Three.js Anyone can make games now. Full workflow thread and prompt below: (1/7)

We've made games without ai for the entirety of their existence, and now the only ones who stand to lose without it are those who haven't put any work into learning the craft. We don't need ai for good games to exist, we need it to enable laziness
is it too radical to say I wish steam wouldn't allow any games that use ai

yo @TimSweenyy you should organise an AI game dev boycott where all AI game developers refuse to publish on steam and only publish on Epic
Tim Sweeney is criticizing Valve again over Steam’s requirement for developers to disclose their use of generative AI. The Epic Games CEO called the policy “abhorrent,” arguing that developers are being forced to make a “political statement” that could be used against them by a “hate mob.” Sweeney has been criticizing the policy since 2025, previously comparing the disclosure to a “Scarlet Letter” and arguing that AI will eventually be part of almost every game production process.

I have the perfect solution for the whole slop games debacle. You let Steam only have none slop games and put all the AI games on EGS. This way everyone wins.

Not long ago there was no point in being secretive about your indie game dev ideas. But now it's so quick to clone a game with AI that devs are actively scared to share demos or details before launch. What a shitty time to be alive.

my art is better than ai slop
I'm sorry but when artists go like "my art is better than this AI slop" and then post art that's not like super impressive it's just really embarrassing.

I don't care which side of the AI spectrum you sit on, this is thievery and extortion no matter which way you look at it.
Someone recreated my game with AI and is now threatening to publish it on Steam unless I pay him $200. Obviously, I'm not paying. First video: my actual game. Second video: the AI-generated clone. He apparently found my game through Twitter, fed it into an AI tool, and recreated what he saw. Now he's asking for $200 or he'll publish it. I’m sharing this as a heads-up because I assume I’m probably not the only indie dev he's doing this to. I guess we have to be more careful about sharing our projects publicly now. You can spend months making a game, post it online, and someone can apparently try to recreate it with AI almost immediately. Not gonna lie, it’s kind of funny, but also not funny at all. #indiedev #indiegame #unity

game dev is in such a weird spot right now. theoretically the only way to build an audience is by posting about your unique game, instead of shadow dropping it. but if you don't shadow drop it, there's a very good chance an AI bro will rapidly recreate and publish your idea

we are witnessing the death of true art right in front of our eyes
🚨 Over 85.8% of Japanese game developers are now using generative AI, a massive jump from 51% in 2025. New CESA 2026 data confirms 63% of them use it daily. Surveyed companies include Capcom, Konami, Sega, and LEVEL5, primarily using AI to save time and cut costs.

Any devs have thoughts about launching a PC game on Steam same launch window as GTA6? Suicide or opportunity due to other studios avoiding the window? #gamedev #indiedev

Dear Microsoft, when I hit the Windows Start menu key and start typing a word to autocomplete a search, I never, ever, EVER want it to return results of something not on my computer. Ever. Like, ever, ever, never.
