AI has only just started to wipe out jobs and it was already a major factor for a majority of voters. I’m telling you right now that by 2028 AI and the job losses it causes will be the number one issue for a huge number of voters. Republicans have been abysmal on this issue. To call Trump’s handling of the issue “tone deaf” would be far too generous. Voters are extremely worried about the mass unemployment that has already started due to this technology. If your only response is to suggest a fun new nickname for AI, you will get obliterated in every election from now until the indefinite future. Pro-AI cultism is not a viable political position. It just isn’t.
One of the most White pilling things I've seen since last night, is the massive amount of young men who immediately asked what to do next.
So many expressed interest into wanting to join their local Republican groups, helping at polling stations, or anything to make sure this didn't happen again.
They didn't let this defeat them, they simply moved forward.

PBD says he sent the president an idea: anyone under 30 pays zero federal income tax on the first $200,000 they make, so young people can save, buy a house, and start a family.
“I proposed something the other day and I sent it to the president, just to see if they would entertain this idea or not. My idea was anybody under the age of 30, for the first $200,000 you make, you pay zero federal income taxes.”
“Keep all that money, set it aside, save it, buy a house, have kids. After 30, you go into the same tax bracket as everybody else, but it gives you a jump start.”

Paul LePage wins, the only D to R congressional flip of the year.
Not exactly sure what the pearl-clutching "candidate quality" scolds have to say.
With this and Bo French's 1:1 performance with Greg Abbott, it seems as though "harsh rhetoric" does not a bad candidate make.

The “Brad” ad by Sanders. Vivek’s Christmas crashout. Mike Johnson saying young white guys playing video games are why Medicaid is broke. $20 burritos. Hinson’s comments.
The only message to young white men from the GOP is “we absolutely hate you with every fiber of our being.”
No wonder the 18-29 year old white male demo shifted 45 points.
If the GOP is going to win again, it needs to be the party of Brandon Gill and Jace Yarborough.
They are the model.
Things HAVE TO change.
I still can’t get over how tone-deaf Ashley Hinson’s ‘29-year-old living in his mom’s basement’ comment was the day before the election.
Nearly half of Americans aged 18–29 still live with their parents. For most of them it isn’t a lifestyle choice, it’s simply the least expensive option available. Housing costs, stagnant entry-level wages, and student debt have made independent living out of reach for a huge share of young adults. And these issues, to be clear, started long before the Trump administration.
Too many Republican politicians still mock the symptoms instead of acknowledging the actual problems. Republican politicians will continue to lose with young voters until they realize that.

A lot of people are understandably going to dive into 2028 discourse, almost exclusively focused on the presidential race.
But last night made one thing clear… Candidate quality matters.
Winning in 2028 starts with identifying and recruiting down ballot candidates today.

No amnesty!
I’m told Indiana’s @RepStutzman is blaming last night’s electoral obliteration on ICE and mass deportations, and that he wants Stephen Miller fired. Stutzman is a co-sponsor of the “Dignity Act,” which would grant amnesty to millions of illegals.

CPI data doesn’t show this, nor does exit polling data. Certainly there could be room for how to better implement tariff policies, streamline inefficiencies, etc., but the number one issue set was affordability/economy/opportunity, and from that, gas prices (Iran), grocery prices (exacerbated by supply chain costs due to Iran), healthcare costs, and perceived barriers for young people to thrive, which America First policies like tariffs are designed to tackle long term.
Iran fed directly and more prominently into CPI impacts both literally and as they were politically perceived than tariff policy.
The exit polling is pretty strong on this connection and order of importance. Tariffs aren’t a top three here and trying to throw tariffs under the bus in order to distract from the impact of Iran on the electorate is a misreading of voter sentiments.

Statement from Bull Moose Project President, Aiden Buzzetti, on the 2026 midterm election.
An economy that works for young people is not optional. Conservatives either deliver lower costs, affordable homes, and good jobs, or young voters will turn to someone who promises to take it by force.
Most of this is completely wrong but the fact that even Mitt Romney is questioning the Iran War is shocking.
Humility and introspection is a welcome change.
JD Vance is as good as it gets.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.
So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."
Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.
There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.
But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)
In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

The way forward Republicans need to understand the differences:
✅ Bombing nuke sites for 1-2 days is ok
✅ Capturing Maduro in one night to take Venezuela is ok
❌ Prolonged wars that drive gas prices up $3-4 a gallon so that people can’t take vacations or do their business with a profit is not ok
✅ AI innovation is ok
✅ AI jobs are ok
❌ Calling data centers good and installing them in peoples’ backyards is not ok
✅ Securing the border is ok
✅ Deporting illegals is ok
❌ Manhandling family members of huge voting blocks and blasting them all over social media so we lose elections is not ok
✅ Getting rid of taxes on tips is ok
✅ Getting rid of taxes on overtime and social security is ok
❌ high inflation because we spend too much and can’t balance the budget or rein in spending is not ok
✅ Standing up to China is ok
✅ Beating China in trade is ok
❌ Letting in hundreds of thousands of Chinese students to take the slots of Americans at our best colleges is not ok
We have to do a better job at understanding nuances like this so that we can win elections in the future or our country as we know it is done for.
Not just in Congress - but at all levels of government including state legislatures.
Ideologically sound conservatives who are capable of working hard, running winning campaigns and being good public servants need to start preparing to seek elected office now.
