“Being left-wing can create a little problems sometimes in the United States, but I would have fun with it! There’s nothing like being at a dinner party in Beverly Hills with fancy guests and telling them you’re a socialist.” Rest in Peace, Patrick Stewart ✊

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

Fox: Why are you here this morning? Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

Mila Kunis just confessed the most unhinged thing to Patrick Stewart’s face and he had no idea it was coming.** She’s been sitting next to him the whole time playing it cool. Then she drops that her old Nokia ringtone was literally “Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise” and she paid $1.99 for it. Patrick is sitting there smiling while she starts full-on doing the voice. James is dying. She keeps going. Then Patrick starts telling the story of how everyone told him Star Trek: The Next Generation would be dead in six months and his agent basically said “just go make some money and come home. Then it gets worse (better). He casually mentions he once got invited onto the flight deck of Concorde and actually pressed the buttons that put the engines into supersonic. Mila’s face when she hears that is pure chaos. She is not okay. This is the full conversation and it does not calm down. Watch it before it gets clipped to death.

Patrick Stewart once found himself joking with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr about being three knights at the same table. No grand speech, no performance. Just a moment of shared laughter. A long career leaves behind more than great roles. It leaves moments people remember.
This is just Emrata letting Conan accuse her of flirting, acting completely innocent, then gently roasting him for getting flustered. She was in control the entire time.

A cow on his family's ranch did not survive calving season, so he took the calf and bottle fed it himself. He was also the starting quarterback of his high school football team at 14 years old. Byrd Ficklin is a quarterback at Utah now, and he grew up on a cattle ranch in Oktaha, Oklahoma, about 20 minutes outside Muskogee. His mother Brandy and his stepfather Mark run it. Cows, goats, chickens and donkeys. He has a horse out there named Clutch. His parents both went to Bacone College, a small school in Muskogee. His mother played soccer. His father Justin played football. Ficklin spent the first years of his life running around that campus. Then he got to Muskogee High and became the varsity starter as a freshman. Muskogee calls its teams the Roughers. That first team went 2 and 8. The next year they went 10 and 3. The year after that they went 12 and 2 and won the Oklahoma 6A-II state championship, which Muskogee had not won in more than 30 years. Here is what his former coach Travis Hill says about what that did to the town. He says Ficklin "brought the community all together." Now here is the part that does not make sense. Not one Power Four program offered him a scholarship. His family believes there were two reasons. He was in the wrong corner of Oklahoma, too far from where the big schools do their looking. And he throws left handed, which a lot of coaches quietly do not want. He could have transferred to a Texas school and fixed the exposure problem in one move. He stayed in Muskogee. Brent Venables and Oklahoma came around late. Then on November 20 of 2024, Kyle Whittingham called from Utah, and Ficklin committed. Then Whittingham left for Michigan and took the offensive coordinator with him. The new head coach, Morgan Scalley, called and made the case for staying. Ficklin stayed anyway. "Utah feels like home." Be straight about it. He is a backup. Devon Dampier is the starter in that Big 12 offense and Ficklin is in a gadget role, and Dampier is headed for the NFL, which means this probably is not Ficklin's team until 2027. Winning a state title in Oklahoma does not make anybody a college starter. Here is what his mother says about how they raised him. "We've always been really big on letting Byrd go and be a kid." And here is his father, on where he is right now. "I think he now knows he's ready, but he's still the next guy." On a ranch you feed the thing that cannot feed itself yet, and then you wait on it. Here is what Byrd Ficklin says about waiting. "I live every day like my time will come."
